To be running a fever for that long isn't good. What is her temp? Fever is usually a sign of infection, but the blood work should have shown that. I can't imagine what would cause a fever for 8 days. Good luck at the Dr.'s, please post an update on this question, I would love to know what the Dr. says. I hope your Daughter starts to improve soon.

Walking pneumonia.
My daughter was diagnosed with it when she was nine. It is a milder form of pneumonia. When you know your kid isn't as sick as a person with full-blown pneumonia but still wonder--then it could be walking pneumonia. They call it that because the symptoms just aren't as bad but they persist.
My daughter's symptoms were:
She didn't smile or laugh at anything anymore
She was Lethargic
Went to bed very early every night
No appetite whatsoever--none
Coughing
Rattling (in chest)
She was very pale
Lost weight
She developed dark circles under her eyes
She was like a zombie
She kept a very low fever until it progressed and finally spiked
That's when we took her to the emergency room.
Before that we kept giving her cough medicine, and cold remedies--all of which didn't do anything but let her sleep a little more.
This went on for a couple of months, it was very mild at first, seemed like a runny nose. Then the cough. Then the fever in the last week. She had seen the doctor earlier for it and they thought it was a cold...or a virus... but it wasn't. Those doctor visits are very reassuring because you have taken her to see the doctor, but in the end it was when it never got better but got significantly worse that they were able to properly diagnose her.

If it's not pneumonia, (no cough any more) and you could check that with lungs x-ray, I remember when I was young our neighbor had the Typhoid Fever. It's a kind of Salmonella, that could have come from drinking water or with some green leafy vegetables. Remind the doctor about that.

It is usually a sign of infection. Sometimes the meds that you give for a fever can work against her.

i have, when my son was three. i finally took him to the er and they gave him a shot. have you tried altenating tylenol and motrin every two hours? does she have trouble breathing? have they checked for RSV? ask questions. if you are not getting any results with the doc, try another one. try a bigger hospital where they have more resources and usually better doctors.
