I often hear people say that people with different personalities are attracted to each other, I`d say it isn`t always true. What`s your opinion?

I say relationships work best when there's a lot in common, but several key differences between the two of you that can help the both of you grow. When you have nothing in common, and are completely different people, where's your common ground? You often end up operating on completely different levels.
When I go for a relationship, I make sure the person's level of intelligence is close to mine (I'm not going to date somebody with an IQ of 80, but also not somebody with one of 180...it causes an imbalance, and often inferiority/superiority complexes), that our tastes in music overlap in at least two or three places, and that we will always have something to talk about (movies, politics, religion...it's not necessary to share the same opinion, but jus be able to understand and discuss it intelligently with the other.) By 'make sure' I don't mean I check this before the relationship starts, but those are the kinds of people I find myelf drawn to.
In my current relationship, we're basically twins (but with a few key differences), and despite obstacles thrown at us by forces we can't control, it's been fantastic.

I think it varies person to person. Some people will be attracted to their opposite as others want someone that they can relate to.
For me, I like a mixture of the two, I want to have a few common points and a few surprises along the way to keep things interesting.

I've always been cold, and don't show my feelings, sometimes manipulative and such...

My siblings are somewhat similar, we take after my dad. I always go for guys who are more sensitive, caring, who can show their feelings and such.

By that I mean, I always go for the direct opposite of my brother and dad's personality when searching for a guy.

I guess you could say that the personalities mimicked in a family, some girls tend to go for guys directly opposite if they get annoyed by those personality traits. If they get along great, no problems, they would probably look for those characteristics in a guy.

It depends on the person. I am always drawn to quiet men. I am very outgoing and a social butterfly but drawn to homebodies that I corrupt and make them social butterflies.
