I agree with you. You should feel your belief from inside yourself and not from somebody else telling you. There are so many different paths we all can take. So, it's logical to follow the path that your heart and mind wants and feels at home with. The books and buildings are there to help you find your religion, but ultimately the decision should come from inside of you. I don't know about you, but I feel at peace within my soul about the choice that I made.

My viewpoint is that religion is not what you feel in your heart or head, it is a series of organizations that hopes to exploit the uplifting spirituality mankind experiences and the dread of the unknown. Thus, at times we feel peaceful, joyful, connected with all of creation. Othertimes we feel scared and depressed, afraid of death.

Religion is someone's attempt to capitalize (make money) on those two emotions. You pay your tithe or weekly gift offering to the plate they pass and you get nice sermons about how God is love and that death is not the end. You get a preacher, iman, priest, whatever, standing up and saying that they have all the answers in this book.

Of course, there is the lingering doubt that those religious leaders have all the answers (or have enough money) so when we are doubtful we seek to convert others. The more of us chipping into those plates, the more right we can feel. Go convert others, bring in the sheep to the fold, and you can be assured that if we ALL FEED THE SYSTEM, we must be right.

It also helps to have some persecution of your religion to make you cling tightly to it and to contribute more. Witness the recent scam about the "war on Christmas." It is truly not happening but it feels good to be self-righteously angry about it.

What you feel in your heart and think for yourself in your mind, and maybe if you are lucky directly experience is spirituality and unconditional Love. God is out there and in here. Do not let religion put up preachers, books, and buildings between you and that most Ineffable of Lights.

Actually ,that is the way it suppose to be.
Your faith comes from the heart and not from a building or a book.
The Bible is a spiritual guide to better help you draw closer to the Lord and to understand his intentions for us and what he expects from us.
The Bible is not meant in any way whatsoever to worship it and a church is just a building where people gather together to fellowship and worship the Lord but lately most churches today is rarely about God and his word but instead it has become a political campaign base for politicians and political views and also it has become a fortress for religious thugs who want to be judges over you and be stone throwers and crucifiers.

Nope, Religion is man made.

Wrong again.
There is only one view, God's Word.
If it can't be documented in God's Word, then it is vanity.

YOU are a spirit with a soul dwelling in a flesh body.
Right, you don't believe this.
It's not a belief.
Your intellect should be aware of this yet some are denying it.
You have thoughts or conscious awareness.
What matter or substance are these thoughts?
You have emotions and concerns.
What matter or substance are these emotions?
THEY ARE SPIRIT
Your soul is the intellect of your spirit.
But if spiritually dead, you are not in touch with your self.
Your soul, the intellect of your spirit, is obstinate and of the world, that is the flesh world.
YOU ARE NOT IN TOUCH WITH YOUR TRUE SELF.
This is not easy to teach or find the right words. But if you read what I have written with understanding. My spirit has communicated with your spirit.

There are written sources and they can be useful, but I do not accept any of them as infallible or inspired documents. Any religion which does this is deceiving its members about the purity and precision of the written word. The various competing factions of Middle Eastern religions are proof of this. Their conflicting interpretations can not all be correct!

There are two real sources of holy truth, and neither expresses itself to us in words. One is the universe around us, which is a manifestation of the underlying divine essence. The other is the universe within us, passed down from our ancestors as instinct, emotion, innate predispositions, and perhaps even genetic memory. By combining these sources of internal and external wisdom with the literature left us by our ancestors, we can arrive at religious truths.

This living spiritual guidance is better than any dusty, dogmatic "holy book", whose writings are often so ambiguous that even clerical scholars disagree and whose interpretations change with the politics of the times.

So yes, in short, I do wholeheartedly agree with you.

I agree that one must feel for God is his or her heart, but I don't agree that, just because one has this feeling, that this is objective proof that the dogma a person has come to believe is correct.

After all, Proverbs 21:2 says: "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts." In other words, it's not what YOU believe, it's what GOD would have you to believe.

For example, there are some who would call themselves Christians who believe Jesus is not God in the flesh. This goes against all that the Gospels and apostolic teachings tell us. Yet, for those who believe this blasphemy, this belief "feels" right to them. But God is the judge and will weigh this errant belief when it's time, judging them against what Scripture tells them they should follow.

My point is, it's dangerous to simply trust one's heart. Trust also the educated teachings of learned scholars; test the faith that's being taught to you to ensure it's Scriptural. Otherwise, you will be tossed about with every new doctrine.

Religion is a set of rules made by man to try to please God. It accomplishes nothing other than showing us how far short we fall. When we have a true relationship with God, then we can feel the presence and leading of the Comforter.

I can't help but think, since religion is man made, that it comes from the mind while faith comes from the heart.
But then that's just my opinion.
