As a child I remember my teacher and pastor telling us we should never give pets human names? What gives?

Its just a way of allowing them to feel superior to animals. It is likely your teacher and pastor had insecurity issues. Having animals with human names would have given them a severe inferiority problem. As it is, having a human name is likely the only thing in their poor miserable lives which allows them to feel special.

Jehovah is God and he will save those doing his will by preaching about the good news of his kingdom and those worshiping him. Matt24:14 And this good news of the kingdomwill be preached in all the inhabbited earth for a witness to all yhe nations; and then the end will come. Acts5:42 And everyday in the temple and fromhouse to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about Christ, Jesus. We dont Believe in Hell Ecclesiastes9:10 All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for their is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in sheol, the place to wich you are going. other verses proving this... We dont celebrate Holidays because those are pagan holidays celebrating someone else and not Jehovah God. We believe that those of Jehovah will go to paradise. We believe and love Jesus the son of God and that he died for our sins. We do not use the cross as a symbol because Jesus died on it and It is not worshiping Jehovah. There is only one God and that is Jehovah 1Corinthians8:6 There is actually one God the Father, out of whom all things and we for him. Although I am explaining my form of christianity I mean to offend no one for I still have much to learn about jehovah as a 14 yearold Jehovahs witness. I am happy with what I am and I respect other religions because I have a loving catholic dad and a loving JW mother. Thank You = )

I think life has enough strife and worry without adding this type of regulation. I have been reading the Bible for over 30 years. Studied it backwards and forwards and there is nothing in there on the naming of pets.
Be zealous to spread the gospel and to get sin out of your life, and most importantly to love your family and those that God sends into your life.

I guess because if you go around the street yelling "Doug? Doug? come here Doug!" then some guy named Doug might come up and wonder what the hell you want.

when I was a little girl I had a poodle with the same registerd name as mine. born on my birthday, with one light eyelash and one brown eyelsh...just like mine. how weird is that?
