I would posit that we already are, and that's a sad statement.

The change we want to see in the world?

Some want the world to change to conform to their views, with no others being tolerated. They are trying to be that change.

Some people want the world to change in order to give them (or restore to them) special privileges, and they are trying to be THAT change.

I love Gandhi's idealism, and I am trying to be the change that I want to see in the world, but what I want to see in the world is often at odds with what others WANT to see in the world (as opposed to what they pay lip service to).

Yes, it only takes one person to change something they do--and then a lot of people changing just one thing they do. Its sort of like a domino effect.

I think it is a good thing to start the change from ourselves.

Think also what you are trying to accomplish. I am a Christian woman, and I want to spend my eternity in heaven with God. So I need to follow Jesus.

We try. That's virtually what St. Francis of Assisi said. "Sanctify yourself, and you sanctify the world." That's what Catholic Practice is personal...Baptism, Confession, Communion...it's an inside job.
