how can u protect against the piercin pain in ur ears once u get inside to warmer air?

I think because you have so many, many nerves in your entire ear area; that's why it feels so good when you massage your ears...they're very sensitive. One word........EARMUFFS. Good luck and keep running!

first you should always dress for the weather and ears are very sensitive to heat and cold. The skin around the ears would prolly get frostbite first if in extremely cold conditions. You also have the wind to take into consideration. Wind can sometimes do more damage than the actual cold.

because skin on ears is thin, and they stick out off of the surface of your head, and they catch wind. Cold stinging wind.

you know, i have the same problem and it does hurt pretty bad.i wish i knew i am sorry i dont have the answer but i tihnk it may be just because our ears are little so they get colder when exposed
