How can you not known.
Don't you watch the medical TV shows that portray
a person living, then they died. It's like that, the part
that went away and left the body now lifeless,
that's your Soul.
The Spirit Is also part of the Soul.

Of course you know what it is. Don't make a mystery out of something quite straightforward just because it can't be touched physically. For convenience it is the immaterial part of you as opposed to the material part or body.

To use a rather hackneyed comparison, you may not be able to see the wind but you know it by it's effects.

Just as there are rather obvious dangers for the body so also there are dangers for the soul. Have you never experienced internal hurt? Hurt to the immaterial part of you? If you haven't then you haven't lived!

With your mind (part of the soul) you can understand and reason and it is not hard to understand the parallels between the material and the immaterial. Indeed we understand the things that cannot be seen through the things that we can see. Thus we can grasp at God. We cannot know Him that way but we can know about Him that way.

Now God has made revelation of Himself available to us which puts us on notice of the worry about the safety of the soul.

Furthermore He has implanted in us the knowledge of His law which for convenience may be referred to as the conscience.

Thus we have two strong witnesses as to the danger to our souls.

Do we need any more? No. But we have more. We know of our unyielding tendency away from good. Why do we prefer what is not good? It is not logical in and of itself. Even the seriously flawed theory of Evolution postulates the opposite, that we evolve higher and better, survival of the fittest, adaption, etc., etc. -But experience shows us clearly the opposite. Man degenerates, he goes down and worse. Even in your own experience you know this.

Then there is something very seriously wrong. We have at least three strong witnesses to this. There is a fatal and awesome worry about the safety of the soul.

Why?

Well God in His mercy has revealed why. More than that, because He is so wonderfully good and concerned He has taken awesome action to rescue us from that clear danger, yet according to the very spiritual laws of His goodness He will not take away the use of our will. He will not injure us or disable us from our original design and creation. He does not delight in spiritual cripples or robotic responses. He has done all for us but, if I may put it this way, simply requires our consent which He will honour. He will not force. To keep your son alive would you force upon him an operation that would leave him brain dead? I do not think so.

Yes there's more to it, but you can understand in essence what the problem is.

How do I know this? He brought me to a point where I came to know Him not just about Him. Through His appointed means He gives revelation, life to the one who seeks.

It is for you to consider why there is indeed such a great struggle and worry about the safety of the soul, and for you to find, if you seek.

The body id finite and will eventually wear out and expire, but the soul is of a different nature and is eternal,it can never expire so we should at some time in life give some thought and consideration to our soul and do what is necessary to save it.
