oh yes it is a disease. a sad one. people get so addicted they refuse to believe they have a problem i guess it is a little different then a disease we have no control over, but through and through it is a disease and sadly the cure ends up being death or loss of quality of life for most people.

Yes - it is a known fact that alcoholism and drug addiction IS a disease and has been proven to be so by the AMA (American Medical Society).
You are never cured of this disease but you do go into remission.
Please don't give Juno any attention - he is obviously just trying to get a rise out people and doesn't know sh*t about alcohol or drug addiction at all.

alcohol is called a disease by anyone who doesnt drink much or doesnt drink at all,i personally know i can go without a beer, anyone can do it,its just a matter of being strong and not giving in to our fleshly desires which crave the good feeling in the brain that alcohol gives for the short term period,I am currently experiencing difficulties in stopping my crossdressing,im a man who dresses as a woman,a person can call that a disease because its highly addictive and is very overpowering.question???would you like a crossdressing boyfriend?

I think the addiction is the disease more than the alcoholism...one can be a drug, alcohol or even sex addict and it is fueled by the same thing...addiction.

It's a disease of the brain, which sadly can affect everything else. Our government tried to stop it, but it was too embedded in our society. Sad, but oh so true, that people will willing to kill over it.

yes, a disease that must be treated both physically and psychologically and asap... or it will lead to permanent damage, for both the ill person and for the ones around him/her

No, alcoholism is NOT a disease.
If someone wants to quit drinking, then don't go to the liquor store or tavern every damn day.
