I lost a remote and a key to my 03 Toyota Tacoma and worry that whoever found them would use panic button on the remote to identify get entry to the truck. Is there anyway I can deactivate the remote myself or do I have to ask Toyota to do it?

Go to the Toyota dealer and they can erase the old codes and reprogram the ones you still have

If you deactivate the remote your second will also not work. The car can however be relearned. Meaning that a new code will be supplied to the exhisting remote and key. Then should someone try to use the lost remote and key they will be useless.

Got to a dealer, have them order you a new remote and key and also have the computer/remote relearned ...

BTW most insurance companies will request to see both keys if your car gets stolen. If you tell them you lost one set and didn't get the code changed they might refuse partial or all of the payoff since you didn't do everything you could to preclude the theft.
