wake up, mom- do you really believe that they were stopping by what is obviously a drug dealers house to say hello ?? A great excuse for your mom, but the police aren't buying it. If you are spending your time with drug dealers, probably a poor choice, don't you think. They have the right to an attorney.

Your son and his girlfriend where in the wrong place at wrong time, now when the police raided the house all in the are taken into custody and charge them all with a crime, now as stated above being charged is different then being convicted,
You need to get a good lawyer, at best your son if he had nothing to do with selling, defiantly knew their where drugs in the place and do not let him tell you other wise, he maybe able to have his charges drop if he testifies all he knows about their Friends
now your son may feel this is wrong, but he is in hot water and if he will not corporate with the investigation the DA will not be amused, and if DA can stick a charge against your son they will if he will not help them
your son is going to have to step if he wants to stay out of jail, and turn on his friends
the fact that the house was raided means they where moving alot of stuff out of the house, maybe the have your son under surveillance and have document amount of times he was at the house etc

There rights were that they did not need to be in a house where there is a possibility that drugs are being trafficed. Their rights are that they will get the same rights to counsel, a fair and speedy trial, and their day in court. If it were up to everyone in prison, they would have us all believe they are innocent.
Most of the time, if a house is raided, everyone there is taken into custody. Now, when it comes to being convicted, pretty much everyone in the home will have to state that your son and his GF were not involved. If they, the drug dealers, state that they were, then it turns into who is believed and who is not.
From now on, I recemmend you keep a close eye on who your son is hanging out with. Seems it is likely that he knew what was going on in the house. I can't ever recall having friends that I would not have known were delaing or using in some sense.
I know you want to believe your son, but I would not take his word for gold. Seems he hangs out with some questionable people. That, even if it was my child, would put them in question as well.

Being charged for a crime does not mean you will be indicted, or convicted.
Their presence at the house means they COULD have been involved. Unfortunately, since people lie, the police have to investigate the lie. As long as the police had a WARRANT or probable cause to be in the house, they are at risk for being involved.
Get a great lawyer, and question, from now on, what houses your son is going to. As to meet their parents, and if not their parents, MEET every friend your child wants to hang out with, especially if they are going to their homes.

Be thank full that their friends weren't plotting a terrorist attack when the doors were kicked down. If they were not involved, at least in this case , that will come out in trial, unlike the first premise. Bad things happen to good people. Unfortunately , you will have to get your son a good lawyer and incur the cost of a good defence. Good luck and remember, it could have been worse.

My daughter-in-law is a probation officer and I believe that they call this 'guilty by association' and it may carry a lesser charge but a charge never the less

Go to the DA, and plead out "No Contest" and turn states evidence against the REST!
Sure they WERE COMPLETELY "innocent?" Parents OFTEN believe THAT!
Thanks, RR

It's just the governments way of saying that they'll decide who your friends should be and who you will visit.
