No. Because not looking for a reward becomes the reward.

I think many of us do this each day when we interact with people on all levels. We speak kindly to others even though the response we get may not be as kind, we don't let it get to us. Who knows what that person has experienced in life and going though at that time anyway. If we give a gift we don't expect one in return do we, as "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving" Acts 20:35. We were telling them by our gift that we cared for them. If they didn't appreciate it, well that is their choice. If it made us happy to give is that a reward!?

I would like to yes. Sometimes I do and other times I do not. I think it human for us to secretly want some type of reward or praise.

Have you recently been deceived by Kant? Are you
taking a college ETHICs course?...............
j/k...

This can be a cat chases tail argument, because of the mere fact that "It does feel good (in spirit or heart) to give freely, and to do good for others."

The Bible teaches that we are to give, with the mindset that we do not require what we gave --back. GOD is our gain, Christ is our REWARD!~ In becoming like Jesus, we find reward MUCH greater, and appreciation much deeper, than any on this earth could ever give!
God Bless you!~

This is the definition of Unconditional Love. Giving without expecting anything in return. The Spiritul Warrior learns not to criticize or give praise. As both of these feed the Ego.
But a little praise for a small child doesn't hurt. Don't go to extremes.

NO

Even if we don't expect anything, it is still rewarding when we think of what a good person we are. Ever know someone that did a lot of charity work. Think about it most people knew "what a good person" they were. That in itself is a reward.

I think we try to, sometimes. And of course, we fail because none of us are as righteous as Jesus Christ, who gave wholly and so selflessly. Even when we give, knowing that there is nothing coming back to us in return, we end up doing it for the good feeling we get inside.... not to BLESS the other person at all.

The point is to TRY, though. We are told that if we give in secret, we shall be blessed in public. I think that giving just to bless others is all the gain that we need.

*seems too many people saw that one episode of Friends*

The question was not about being selfish, it was about looking for reward. Theres a difference.

That being said, I think it can be possible, but unlikely. To even the most minuscule degree, I think we usually want something back, if only if its just a simple "Thank you".

No. Every human act is motivated by selfish thinking. Even charity. Giving of yourself because it makes you feel good about yourself, is still seeking a reward of sorts.
