In Canada, French.
It is hard to get good paying jobs in customer service or HR without being bi-lingual. Also, there are many other countries that speak French as a first or second language such as Algeria, Belgium, France, Ivory Coast, Luxembourg, Monaco, Morocco, Senegal, Switzerland, Tunisia, Zaire, Haiti, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, as well as many others.
However, there are more NATIVE GERMAN SPEAKERS than native french speakers in the world. German speaking countries include, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy,Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Namibia, Romania, and Switzerland. Again though there are more people that speak German, there are more countries that use french either as a first or second language.
Also if memory serves me correctly I believe German is harder to learn.
Personally I would learn Spanish because over 20 countries speak it (as a first or second language including the US) and it is the 3 highest spoken language by natives (you will see what I mean when you check the sources).
Please see my sources. Hope this helps.

Japanese and Spanish are the most useful here in the states for business relations. Followed closely by Arabic and Chinese.
French would rank down about 5th or 6th place because there are not that many French speaking countries in the world and they are not huge in international trade. German is mostly spoken in Germany. It would be useful only if you are in a trade that uses a lot of German technology.

That would mainly depend if you were in France or in Germany. If your business patrons were French or German. If they are both than you had better learn a little of both. What are you going to do when a Spanish speaking person comes in? Talk to him in French or German, I don't think so! Like I said; It all depends on location, location,

If it specifically has to be one of the two you listed I would say German as like someone else mentioned they own a lot of multi-national coporations.
However, it all depends on the type of business you want to do and where you are based yourself.
If you can be lenient, then I would forget both of them and do Spanish as it will be very useful to use in the americas and is the third most spoken language after mandarin chinese and english.

It is dependent upon who you do industry with. In primary europe german is extra priceless, in western europe and primary africa french. German is rather (now not adequate for creating a option) extra complicated considering it makes use of instances and three genders, in which French makes use of two grammatical genders. If you regularly desired to be taught French, simply opt for it. Motivation issues plenty. If you wish to make it simpler on your self, be taught a few Esperanto first (wikipedia Propaedeutic_value_of_esperanto )

German. Deutschland wird mehr mit den Angelegenheiten des Geschäfts betroffen, als die Franzosen sind. Und das Borst ist in Berlin für finanzielle Angelegenheiten der europäischen Länder.
