If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be Mary.
She's the new Eve, whose perfect obedience was totally the opposite of Eve's disobedience.
It was through a woman that sin came into the world. But it was through another woman, Mary, that our redemption came into the world.
Mary is the new Ark of the Covenant -- the bearer of the new Covenant, just as the Ark was the bearer of the old one.
She was the first person to ever believe in Jesus. And she obeyed God every time she was called to do so, no questions asked.
She was there for His birth, had to flee with Him to Egypt to avoid His being killed, had to watch people ridicule Him and reject Him, and ultimately, had to watch His horrible execution.
Through all of this, she never lost faith.
Today, she prays for us and presents our needs to Her Son -- she is the Queen Mother of Heaven, along the lines of the Queen Mothers of the kings of Israel in the Old Testament.
And every time I've ever asked for her prayers when I've been in true need, she's NEVER let me down. Not once.

Ruth
Hers was a beautiful love story that developed as she put Naomi above herself. Instead of loathing because she had lost her husband, she occupied her time doing for others. God richly blessed her in the end by providing for her a "kinsman redeemer."
Maybe if we would learn to be "daughters of Ruth" and wait for God's best we would not make so many mistakes along the way.

Wow, too many to name!
Just off the cuff the first one I think of it Mary, sister of Martha. I like her because she knew what was important in life and she dared to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn.
Ester is a fabulous story too, a woman using her skill to win the heart of a King to save her people.

Wow, that's a really difficult question. As you mentioned, there are a number of very good candidates.
I'd have to pick Esther, because she faced death several times in order to save her brethren from extinction. It must have been incredibly difficult for her.

My favourite story is about Ruth. She wanted to know God and she gave up everything she knew for that quest. She was a loving daughter to her dead husband's mother.
I love the way she followed Naomi's directions to "woo" Boaz. He was a such a sweet, sweet man.
For me, that is one of the most romantic stories ever.
