YES! It is in many ways. The professor knows he could lose his job for one. Using a point of power over someone is in some states considered the same as rape as the student does not understand how deep she /he is getting in til too late. What if she decides not to but feels can not back out? Leaving the morals part aside it is a legal question when ever someone has a position of authority over someone. While most shudder at the thought of a teacher having sex with a HS or younger student most look the other way at college as it is assumed people in college are more mature and knowing of what they want. Just my opinion and there will most likely be many who say it is not BUT: If most schools would terminate the teacher then how can it be ok.

Yes. The prof is in authority over the students and this breaks trust with the college and the other students. There should be no relationship there until the student no longer has this teacher.
Besides, anyone who is considering "sex" with someone obviously is not in a love relationship with them so this is also immoral in that they are just "using" the other person to feel good.
Sex should never be a relationship starter, but rather the culmination of a relationship that has been carefully nurtured and wooed.

It is a conflict of interest. How can he grade that student fairly in relation to the other students? Is the student having sex with the professor for the right reasons?
There are other places to find sex or if it is truly that important wait until the student is no longer academically connected to the professor before persuing relations.

The purpose of going to a university is to get an education so you can get a job in a career that you like. At least thats what I thought. I suppose it wouldn't be immoral If you sleep with your professor to get good grades how's that going to affect your education in order for you to learn what you need to know? In other words if all you're looking for is good grades and don't care whether or not you learn anything then I suppose its ok. It sort of defeats the purpose of seeking a higher education.

If the student is in his/her class, then yes it's pretty bad.
If the professor is not actually responsible for the grading of the particular student, meaning that s/he is not the student's instructor and the student is of consenting age, then I don't think this is so bad, certainly not immoral. Assuming that neither one is married of course.

What I think is interesting is that most people that answered this question assume that the professor is a man. If it was a man its not OK is the implication. However if it was a female professor im sure it would be OK because she would be doing it for other reasons right. I'm am sick to death of this double standard crap. Sleeping with a student is wrong on so many levels. When you are in a classroom environment it is for learning not dating. Any professor that abuses their position should be fired instantly.

If the age difference isnt totally nuts....then i really dont see anything wrong with it
the only thing is that there should be no altering of the grade just becuase you slept with your professor. ..... which, if going into a real relationship with your professor, it might cause problems. I know that if my boyfriend was a professor in a college, and he didnt give me a good grade...i'd be sad lol.
perhaps wait until the semester is ended.

Yes. There are plenty of consequences.
1. The professor could get fired.
2. If things end badly, the professor could take their anger out on the student by giving them a bad grade.
And here's a link with further information about why you shouldn't date a professor:

Yes, absolutely.
You may be past 18, but the man in power is how you get attracted and he took advantage of it.
It is WRONG. More than likely, this prof is married and even has children. He ought to know better.
End this here and now. You will get badly burned. Move to another class or another U. Do it and do it now.

don't do it:
1) he might be married w/ kids
2) he's probably seeing other girl(s) im 98% sure
3) After a guy gets what he wants he looses intrest so he might treat you bad.
4)If he's not your boyfriend WHAT CAN YOU GAIN???
just tell him if he wants a relationship he must wait until your no longer his student. in the meanwhile date other guys!!
AND i think you are attracted to him cause he has authority. GOOD LUCK~BE WISE
