Since quittling Yaz, my blood pressures are now relatively normal again (104-113 systolic, 75-78 diastolic) -- just like they always had been. They started to spike to nearly 140/100 in the past week I was on Yaz, plus I started getting blinding headaches and seeing stars. I was told that my body (now that I'm nearly 35) may be changing to the point where I can't tolerate the Pill in any dosage. (High blood pressure is prominant on both sides on my family, regardless of weight.)

I was taking Yaz for controlling my rageful PMS moods rather than birth control. My husband had a vasectomy over 10 years ago, so alternative birth control is not an option. I am hoping the levothyroxine I'm on for straightening up my thyroid will be enough to keep my PMS rages at bay -- hopefully at least a little bit.

this could be a very good possibility! Monitor the blood pressure and see, you probably need to talk to your doc about this .

Leave the soft drinks alone and start drinking water. Soft drinks and other beverages cause dehydration - the underlying cause of high blood pressure. The water in these drinks isn't getting into the cells, and so the cells are screaming for water. You aren't drinking enough water, so the body has to borrow it from the blood and the area outside the cells. But this water is salty and inside the cells needs fresh water. So a process called reverse osmosis kicks in. Reverse osmosis filters the salt out of the water, leaving only the fresh water, which is injected into the cells. The injection process needs an increase in pressure, and this is represented in the blood pressure. You need to drink more water. The body was designed to use water, not Pepsi or Folgers Coffee or Red Bull. I realize that plain water doesn't have such a great taste, but give the body what it wants and the blood pressure will return to normal. The added bonus us you won't need the medications. 3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I have frequently seen hypertension in women on the birth control pill with normal BP when discontinued. Find another method of birth control.
