"He who distinguishes well, reasons well" - Augustine of Hippo.

This question means to say that everyone judges muslims, which isn't true.

To answer the first part of the question. Yes, I have thought about studying Islam accademically.

As to the quote above, I think this is the key to distinguishing between the different types of Islam that are out there instead of looking at Islam as a monolyth and Osama bin Ladin and other terrorists as the posterboys of Islam.

I met plenty of devout muslims in college who showed me that one could be muslim, disagree with western politics and western culture and still dislike the terrorists and extremists within Islam.

Understand this Dude. Most (say 80% to pick a figure) are good people. No one hates individual Muslims. i have many Muslim friends and they are real nice people. But the hardliners are giving the whole religion a bad name. It is for you ( meaning Muslims as a whole) to make sure they do not take over a religion that was fundamentally built on compassion and equality. No research needed my friend. Islam, like any other religion is good in itself - interpretation is being mis-used. Also, Muslims need to understand that an eye for an eye will make the wholeworld blind.

humorous how the terrorist acts are exceedingly lots constantly from Muslims. the place replaced into the Buddhist 9/11 ? The Hindu 9/11 ? The atheist 9/11 ? The Christian 9/11? There weren't any. however the Muslims can constantly be depended directly to be killing somebody for some stupid Islamic component. Have I researched Islam ? yeah. that's why I hate Islam. earlier I researched Islam, i replaced into your regular blind liberal buttmuppet, trumpeting approximately how Islam replaced right into a misunderstood non violent faith.

I am Muslim and I do not believe in violence as it is not logical.
I believe in doing good and showing good. Alas I can't be my brothers keeper.
I understand why people are mixed up about Islam and I don't blame them; look at what has been going on. So now you ask why do you still believe in Islam if it only shows the bad?
Islam shows the bad because those particular Muslims see everything as bad themselves and they of course were the ones who shouted the loudest. I see everything as being what God wants so I accept it. Meaning such things as the Jews living in Israel which is now a part of Palestine. Doing acts of violence does not solve anything, killing people does not solve anything. All it means is that you are throwing a huge temper tantrum because you did not get your way. Now I continue to believe in Islam because I know the secret is to first find peace within myself, as in I know for a fact no religion can be called peaceful unless the people have found peace within themselves. You don't find peace within yourself you won't find it any place else.
I hope I helped.

One thing about Muslims I know there have been a few that have had the call to come out and share the concerns for the radicals and their goals. They are very intelligent businessmen, caring and HONEST enough to admit there is a definate problem. A handful were on C-Span2, Book TV. God be with them.

Major-Ma Now if a Muslim can contain the use of terrorism and the Apocolypse the pres of Iran is dying for he would really be something to remember.

I don't judge muslims as a whole, just the suicidal terrorist muslims, who represent only a small percentage of all muslims.

You mean that if a Muslim hijacks an airplane and crashes it into a skyscraper, we're not supposed to judge his act?

Or if a Muslim beheads an innocent hostage and videotapes it for all the world to see?

Or does any of a number of other horrible things, supposedly in the name of Allah?

Most Muslims are not terrorists, of course -- but it's pretty undeniable that most terrorists are Muslims.

Pretty undeniable realities, if you ask me -- however hard they may be to admit.

I wish I could say that was a good question. But our bad judgement of Muslims is not unwarranted.

As Julia Encamaci pretty much said, their actions aren't exactly leaving us with a good impression of them.
