because the effects have worn off and I am back to my apathetic self. It feels like a huge let down. I've taken Bupron SR150 (Wellbutrin) and Prozac together for two months now but don't feel much of anything. Maybe I should switch to Bupron xl 300

I am not a doctor but I do know that psychotic drugs need to be increased by your phychiatrist per his/her analysis of you.

After about a year or so--the drugs you are on (even at max dosage) will "peter out" completely and you will have to switch to another drug.

What you are experiencing (with the 3rd month wear-off) sounds to me to be that you need a dosage hike. Example: If you are on 50mg you would go to 100mg. If you are on 150mg you may need to go to 200mg (generally the max).

The ONLY one who can say for sure is your psychiatrist. Call your psychiatrist's office now and tell them what you are experiencing. He/she may get right back to you on the phone and tell you to increase it or call you in a prescription w/out having to come in.

I agree with freekazoid that the most important thing is to consult your Dr. The only thing that I can really comment on is your comment about how you are back to your apathetic self. I was put on prozac for my depression a couple years ago. One of the biggest side effects i had was that I did become even more apathetic. I would walk around all day long in a form of semi-"zombie" state where I didnt care about anything at all. I was told this is a common side effect of prozac and not to worry about it. However I definately believe you should consult your Dr. with any concerns you may have and find out if it is better if you get higher dosage or different medication. Good luck man.

You need to talk to your doctor about this. Sometimes you need other things in addition to the meds, like talk therapy, light therapy.

Excercise is so important too.

Prozac is such an "old" anti-depressant. There are a lot of newer ones that work great: lexapro for one, cymbalta. Again, ask you doc.

Good luck, I hope you can start feeling good again.
