I think the answer is the most powerful dog would be any of the large breeds that are trained to pull, like the big pit bulls that can pull 600 pounds , they are feed the best food and train for the compettion, also sled dogs they pull heavy loads through the snow.

I think the Mastiff or the St. Bernard, Irish Wolf Hounds are also huge and powerful, but for sheer tenacity the American Pitt Bulldog is hard to top.
