The dog is not protecting your husband, he is just neurotic from being treated like a human. No dog should ever get in the way of an ALPHA person in the house. The dog was raised thinking that his social position is higher then yours. He needs a rude awakening. Go to leerburg.com and listen or read what Ed says about dealing with dominant dogs. Do what he says and you have a chance of rehabilitating the dog. Leave it alone and it will just escalate to the point that someone is going to get hurt and the dog will have to go.

Dogs are very much like human in their emotions. You have to prove to them that you are worthy before they will trust. I say that you should show attention to the dog and not the husband for awhile. I mean surly since he married you he is not going to leave you. So if you grow a bond with the dog ALONE then the dog will want to be protective over you and him. He will accept ya being together. It is a jealousy issue not a "you cant have him" issue.

Spend some time training the dog. If you can't resolve this issue ask your partner to train the dog and help you train the dog. The dog really should listen to both of you but this may take time and will require you to show the dog that you are truly higher then him.

my wife gets angry....says i babytalk the dog more than her!i dont like the fact that the dog is aggressive toward you though.you should be able to tell that dog to get lost its your turn to have hubby.seriously my wife would not put up with that behavior for one second!YOU NEED TO TAKE COMMAND!you are the alfa female of the pack.that dog should know whos the REAL boss!there is something seriouly wrong with what you guys have let go on for too long.your husband has obviously praised the dog for its ill behaviour, this needs to be modified immediatly.or he should be removed.{either the husband or the dog}p.s.do something right away!

You may have to put him out of the room for a bit.
Or try getting him another Yorkie. My friend has two and they get a long great!
