Honestly, I am a Muslim Arab, am i being judged upon the acts of extremists or am I being judged on who I am?

I would love to see Muslims and the rest of the world just go along and acknowledge the differences it’s what makes our world interesting.

I am aware this question will invoke insults doesn't really matter i need to see serious responses even if it was silly

Tony B, you raise a good point but consider the number of terrorists and the totel number of muislim they make very small percentage in my opinion. if its because of fear and being careful why do ppl still travel with airlines while we hear about alot of crashes. its almost the same ratio, isn't?

Tony B, I think you are right, i have experienced that when i went to live in italy right after the unfotunate 9/11, i was in a kind of social isolation but as soon as the people there got to know me better day by day this isolation was liftted. notice i was not treated in a bad way at least by my colleagus in the end i have very close friends over there now. but as you say its right that i will have to provr my self any time i go to any non muslim country.

I am afraid it is what is known as stereotyping. Because Muslim extremists seem to make more noise than Muslim moderates they get listened to - and judged - by non-Muslims. Non-Muslims either dislike or experience fear at what they hear from the extremists and for safety sake treat all Muslims alike. Look at it this way. If a Muslim stranger comes into my street dressed in traditional ways - how can I tell whether he is a moderate or an extremist. It is obviously better for me to be cautious in the hope of remaining safe. In this country we have experienced just how explosive an element in society Muslims can be. Some people have paid with their lives for such knowledge. Sad, possibly unjust - but that is the way of things now.
I do appreciate that the number of terrorists within the Muslim population is not really high - suicide is fundamentally unattractive to most life forms - BUT their thinking is given much publicity by extremist sympathizers and because it is sensational that publicity is amplified by the media. As terrorists have done real damage people are afraid of them, and the concentration of news media on them, their existence, ambitions, and activities, the result is an instinctive reaction of fear and disdain among non-Muslim populations. There may not be many terrorists - but they cause many non-Muslims to see the followers of that faith as bogey-men. A qualitative mis-judgment perhaps, but ordinary people going about ordinary lives have neither the time nor expertise to judge between types of Muslim. Therefore they take the logical reaction of taking no chances when Muslims are in sight.
So far this has not stopped people traveling on airlines - but the massive and visible security that travellers go through gives enough confidence to passengers. Although all the security can be very inconvenient notice that few people want less.

No more than the typical Jew is being judged by the acts of Zionists.

No more than Americans are being judged by the acts of U.S. Government employees.

As someone who is curious and who reads, I think Islam is an awesome religion. Its precepts and goals may be the closest expression to what God wills.

As a woman who is curious and who reads, I think Islam has been twisted into something that is often muddled and intolerant in its execution/practice.

Personally, I think its pretty clear that Muslims have gotten a bum rap from the 911 tragedy. I also think that anybody who actually looks at the event objectively will find it easy (and yet too incredible) to conclude that the US Government had some degree of foreknowledge and complicity regarding the event. Its the 800 lb gorilla in the room that everyone is either too afraid or too hypnotized or too busy to acknowledge.

The answer to the question is "yes" that you are being judged by the acts of extremists and "yes" you are being judged on who you are. That is not a simple an issue as judging the color black from white and it depends on who you meet.

Good Luck!!!

My brother, bigots antagonise and insult our religion and us everyday. It really doesn't matter what people like them think for it's not us who're going to receive grave chastisement in the Hereafter for God is indeed The All-Just, and He loves not transgressors.

Peace and Love

you are being judged. not by me, but by many ignorant people in this country who think that the actions of a small group of people are the fault of entire races and religions.
