Your stuffed.
It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you are on the correct visa & following the conditions. Also overstaying implies other laws could be broken eg how are you funding yourself ? Are you working illegally too ?
You have also got the problem of the longer you leave it the worse it will get. As well as being 'Stuck' in the country you are in when you do get found out they see how long you have overstayed.
As you have been issued a visa already, you will be on record somewhere which means that they might be aware of you have overstayed.
Best thing is go along to the nearest immigration office & come clean.

Hey Everyone! People can become illegal without knowing it! I am just trying to employ a poor guy who spent three years here. The last year was illegal without him knowing it as his employer said he had renewed the work permit but either didn’t lodge it or it got lost in the Depart. He didn’t find out until he went home for a holiday and they informed him on his way through Heathrow. I am trying to get him back (legally) but the problem now is that the time spent working in the UK after his first permit expired cannot be counted in the work experience section.
Remember, a visa overstayer isn’t a serious criminal! This is merely a technical breach, often unintended. It is somebody who didn’t really just messed up in a minor way. (For some minor trivia it is interesting to note that the worst overstayers in Australia are British passport holders)
Assuming you are in the UK, sorting out your problem is relatively simple, just leave and come back the right way. Don't leave by airplane unless going by light aircraft from small airport where there is no immigration control. Most UK smaller airports don't have immigration control so anyone can just fly in and out pretty well whenever they like. However, it’s best to leave by ferry to France/Belgium/Netherlands.
Now you have left the UK and immigration control in these countries will normally not be too bothered about entry by passport holders from western first world economy countries. If don’t come from this kind of country, more problems!
Next, decide what you will do. If you are going home, book your flight from that country before going there so you can show (if asked) that your exit is planned and booked.
If you want to renter the UK legally but not work, simply re-enter UK as tourist after being in the other country for a few days (have a look around!).
If you want to return on a work permit, have the work permit sent in the mail by your employer on the day you leave the country so it is received by Work Permits UK the day after you leave. The work permit is normally issued in about 10 day, but sometimes as long as three weeks if the are a bit slow. Compared too many other countries I think that is quite fast.
Generally, regularise your situation as fast as possible. Being illegal is unnecessary and makes you vulnerable to being exploited by the unscrupulous (employers AND others).
I deal work in immigration to commonwealth countries and I tell you absolutely, if you know what you are doing you can legally migrate and live a good live in those countries as long as you meet the following rules.
•Over 18 years of age.
•Not too bad a criminal record (preferably no custodial sentence longer than 12 months imposed in the last 10 years)
•No serious diseases or VERY expensive operations need. So insulin diabetics can go, people needing a heart operation can’t, but if you have just had your heart operation then you can go.
I think Europe is great if you earn £100K pa or more, or have pots of money but for most ordinary wages type people Australia and Canada can offer a much better overall lifestyle.
If you are illegal in other countries, the situation can become much more complicated.
Ask your question again for better advice but add more detail about what you where doing here, what your nationalities you hold. You could simply email me at info@hanskroonenburg.com
Good luck on your efforts. Let me know how it goes for you.

In the UK if you overstay it is simple you shouldn't be here. When found you will be removed from the county albeit in a hap hazzard terribly organised way but you will go. Only when you apply for a fresh visa IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY will you be allowed back that is if you get one. Do us all a favour and abide by the laws you are lucky to be where you are don't take us for granted..

I overstayed in the uk by a couple of months but had sufficent reason as i was pregnent and couldnt fly so i had to send eciepts of my medical care and notes frommy doctor and had to return home whe was able to fly.so i returned to canada and came back which is ok now but you must do it legal if they catch you and they will eventually you will be deported.do you really want to stay in a holding place with a bunch of failed assylum seekers?or are you one yourself?the uk has so many illlegal immigrants and it makes it hard for people like me( with family here and my family on both sides goes back to 1066 in england so i am british but canadian born)to live here .i faced being torn from my daughter because there is an overflow of people as it is illegal people overstayers ect.if you want to stay here then go home and do it proper or else you are just another sponger!

if you cant get home without police finging out that you overstayed, then i think you should come clean that way they will deport you and you'll get home for free or there might be a way for you to stay here, what have you got to loose...i'm white/british and i think we all should have the right to live where ever we want, were ever we feel happy and safe, just as long that no one gets hurt.

You are creating a real problem.Don't you understand you have a moral obligation to go home and take warning if you are in Australia and you get caught you could spend 5 years in a nasty detention camp and rightly so and they will catch you .
If you are smart you will get the next plane out.
