Besides seeing the impossibility of that occurring for at least the short term, strategically, it wouldn't mean a great deal to America.
We could actually then do what many Americans would like to do now. Which is wash our hands of the region and just not even deal with them at all.
America's tie to Israel is the common bond of Democracy (and a strong Jewish American Lobby). Wouldn't it be great if the U.S., Israel, Turkey and India (all democracies), signed a treaty and Hindu (India) and Muslim (Turks), can all work together, have freedom, create tons of financial opportunities for their people to lead a higher standard of living.
The Iranian people are not generally anti American, but rather their government is. Israel is a different story. Most Iranians can't even stand to think of Israel, let alone be friends with them. This way of thinking became popular during the post Shah era when showed the world that a Christian country (U.S.), Jewish Nation, the Ayatollah Khomeini led the Islamic Revolution there in the late 70's.
To summarize....It's not happening, but if it did, then the U.S. could use it as an opportunity to either walk away from the region with no regrets or even join the alliance.

Even though it is EXTREMELY unlikely, with the current state of affairs and one angry Ahmadinejad, let's pretend. If Iran and Israel became allies, it may not mean they'd want to be friends with us, however that would cause a lot less problems. Here's my personal list:
1. We could begin peace talks by going through Israel as a middleman, so to speak. With the U.N. we could possibly drop sanctions and actually help them if their nuclear program actually is for civilian use.
2. We would be in a better position to ask for things, from a military standpoint. We could suggest they stop building and testing the missiles they love to show off.
3. Iran can benefit by starting up trade negotiations with other countries and beginning a better course for future generations. For example, medicine, electronics, and other goods.
It's nice to think of what could happen, however, it doesn't seem likely.

since most Arab oil producers are secretly allied with Israel, If Iran would change so radically to become moderate and become allied with Israel, it means that most of the middle east will be allied with the US, and one of the main sources of instability in the world will quiet down. The effect on the US will be a cut in military budget. also Muslim terror groups will suffer a major cut in financial as well as moral support.

Michael, when that happens America will breathe a sigh of relief.
But it wouldn't automatically mean peace in the Middle East. There would be a few Arab nations protesting any alliance.
It's nice to see a dreamer out here. If there are enough of you...some day it just might become a reality.

That would take enough imagination to become a ride at Disney World ! If that day ever happened, terrorism would become obsolete. Our Military would be able to catch its breath. Our country would save billion and billions of dollars a year. I think we have a better chance at it becoming a ride at Disney World.

America would have one less issue to deal with in the middle east - that would be great and that was in fact the situation when the Shah was in power in Iran. So there is precedent to know what that situation was like.
Good Luck!!!

That will never happen! The neighboring Arab states and the US will not let it happen. Beside that Israel will never go for it.

If that were to happen, I could go home, the US could go back to protecting it's borders and the world would finally be at peace.
I seriously wish that would happen.
