Heart attack is one of the most serious possibilities.

Go to a DOCTOR right away!

Then, if it's not a heart attack (M.I. = myocardial infarction) it could be a pinched nerve which could be caused by a herniated disc or other condition.

In any case see an MD today!

If all of the above are ruled out, it could be a muscle or soft tissue injury. In that case a massage therapist could help.

But please don't take this lightly. Go to your doctor of the emergency room right now.

Seriously. Take my advice. At least call the Dr. and ask them.

Sounds like the discs in your neck are deteriorating and the vertabrae are rubbing or the nerves are irriatated and inflamed. Does the pain go to your fingers or does the pain stop higher up?Do you work in front of a computer all day? You'll need to see a doc........look forward to x-rays, ct scans, mri scan, emg(nerve conduction test). After that is done, chiropractor may be used to see if that helps, physical therapy will be tried. If all fail, surgery will be in your future. Good luck.
