Because it is a physical attack, albeit not one that causes physical pain. Anyone who does it has no sense of how the world should be.

For a number of reasons, First: It is a direct assault upon their 'bodily integrity' - it spreads 'serious diseases' like TB and Hep: 'C' to name but a couple.
It is a grave offence to any person to be spit at, and it is an affront to public decency and respectability to 'bear witness' to a person 'spitting in public' or even in private.

Persons who spit in the presence of others, are regarded as being of, low or no class, without respect for 'themselves' or others.

If an 'infected' person's spit reaches you, then the assault is a 'deliberate assault' upon your person.
For people who 'cough and spit' without using a tissue to prevent their airborne 'germs' reaching other people, their attitude towards the well-being of other people could do with a great deal of improving, not to mention their manners.

I feel quite sure that there are many, more answers to this question.

It's categorised as Physical Abuse (Non Contact), much the same as throwing something at someone - it's an assault because it is dangerous and degrading - that goes for spitting at any part of the body and whether it actually makes contact or not.

Disgusting.

It is absolutely disgusting and is definitely an assault.
It's not really difficult to work out. A lot of people are getting caught out now because spit is easily DNA'd.
In the UK you will be definitely arrested for it in most case.

Because assaulting someone by definition is the act of attempting to hit someone. Spitting in someones face fits into this definition.

If someone spat in my face whilst at work i'd arrest them on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. For all I know you have a contagious disease and have spat in my face in an effort t pass it on to me. It might not go anywhere, you'll probably get an £80 fine (unless you did have a disease) but whatever happens you'll be in a cell for a couple of nights whilst you're tested and i'll be laughing at you.
Plus, it's effing disgusting, if someone did it to me off duty they'd get a good slap.

an assault occurs when one is placed in fear of bodily injury. a batter is any unwanted touching. obviously spitting on someone would constitute an unwanted touching. if the spitter has a communicable disease, all the more reason to be concerned with being spit upon. plus, it's just not nice to spit.

The legal stuff:

A person commits an assault when, without lawful authority, he engages in conduct which places another in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery.

Bodily fluids are a very personal thing.

By spitting on someone else's face, you are subjecting them to something very disguising!

Because they don't have a sense of humour, really a kick in the nuts counts as assualt in my book, but grogging on some one I don't think is the same. However if you have hepatitis and spit on some one it wouldn't be to pleasant for the recipient that you can transmit a disease also its a nasty thing to do, urinating on someone has a far better impact...lololol

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.

Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.
