The Christians here scare me because they believe the things they say. Here is an example of a message I got from one of the more unstable ones:
> You will be the one screaming when the end of the age
> happens, it will frighted you so much that you will faint from
> what is coming on the earth, if you are here that long.
> I am laughing at you right now, I actually feel sorry for you.
> may God have mercy on your soul. In fact in Hell there will be
> no mercy, pity. You will be the one screaming so loud from the
> very pits of Hell, and there will be no one to save your sorry fat
> ***.And besides your torment will be so great you are going to
> wish you had another chance, but here will be none. O, what a
> pity. Poor old not so great Blistering Barnacles. tell someone
> who cares. I will give you 40 cents to phone a friend if you have
> any.
The thing that scares me is not that there will be eternal damnation for my soul, for that I simply feel pity towards them. But, anyone who keeps their mind filled with this kind of vileness:
> I do not need you to feel sorry for me, in fact I feel sorry for you,
> that if you died without Jesus you will end up in Hell and one
> day the lake of fire.
is only one step away from committing some terrible atrocity without feeling any remorse or have any concept of what it means to take responsibility for their own actions. They think that just because they threaten my soul with damnation it is somehow different to them threatening my life. They think they have the divine right to push anyone around. They are simply little bullies that can do nothing more than rant and rave. Lost souls, trying to get a bit of attention but who quickly find themselves on my blocked list, unless I'm a bit bored that day.

You call Americans septic tanks, and then follow it up by saying THEY'RE rude? You yourself just said, "They sit there are call you names, and still think they are going to Heaven." Just what do you call it when you call Americans "septic tanks"? The majority of Americans I know would never call you names like that. That's a terrible thing to say about people. And you call yourself a CHRISTIAN! Americans are good and kind people. There are some good, and some bad, just like there are some good and some bad people from ALL countries, including your own. Enough of this hate already!
In answer to your question about atheists being treated badly by Christians, no, I haven't had a problem with the majority of Christians I encounter. (American Christians.) You do see a lot of that ridiculous nonsense on HERE, but that's only because it's the obnoxious ones that are the most vocal. If you see 100 Christians and one of them is obnoxious, it's the one obnoxious one that you're going to hear, and therefore remember. The 99 decent ones are just going about living their lives, unaware that the one obnoxious person is giving them all a bad name. (Just like you meet one "strange" American, and then assume they're all strange, obnoxious, and rude. I could assume all Australians are rude, because I think what you said was rude and obnoxious. I won't, though.)

No. I appreciate Christians as a lot because the persons deserve. i do no longer appreciate Christianity. Atheism has no regulations. All atheism ability isn't believing any gods exist. If someone has a code of ethics, say from humanism, that does *no longer* derive from atheism. "i assume that the undesirable apples continuously provide the finished bunch a foul call. might want to you agree? that's type of like the Westboro Baptists, or different extremist non secular communities" No, i does no longer agree. faith is inherently (and arbitrarily) judgemental. Christians hating gays is not merely the extremists, that's the norm. do not trust me? There are election effects to coach it. advantageous, you do not, yet you recognize Christians who do. you're mistaking justified anger for meaningless rudeness. Anger is powerful. Anger has been the engine in the back of each and every effective social change. at the same time as you would have a doctrine of turn the different cheek (notwithstanding it would not appear like you in my opinion do out of your rant) that mentality is undesirable for society. And it easily feels like you try to silence our grievance with a 1/2-hearted attempt at shaming. i recognize extra effective than to assume Christians to cope with me with politeness.

I tend to keep my lack of belief quiet unless asked in real life. In general, though, I don't know a lot of rude and judgmental people, so I rarely have conversations that end up that way. In real life, I've had some very rewarding conversations with Christians and a few malicious comments.
On the few occassion when it's been necessary to deal with someone like that (maybe as part of my job), I try to remember that the someone who behaves that way is doing more damage to him/herself than he or she will ever inflict on someone else. I usually limit myself to saying that I disagree.

Like any other religious zealots, you show them the door. Christians are members of the only religion in the world that actively campaigns for membership, like marketing. That's because they have the weakest basis for their belief.
Christians are a pain in the a..! They never follow their commandments and have killed more people under the guise of saving them than anyone else.
Remember, if you have nothing to sell, advertise!

>>>They sit there are call you names, and still think they are going to Heaven. >>>
I guess this is why some atheists on here think that they can get away with calling Christians "stupid" and "brainwashed" and such -- because according to them, there's no God or Heaven or hell so it doesn't matter anyway.
By the way, I'm a Christian of the Roman Catholic variety -- and I never call people names, nor am I rude to them.
So, there's at least one Christian on here who doesn't fit your stereotypical mold. No doubt I am not the only one.

Signs of a REAL christian:
Does not condemn sinners
(jesus hung out with prostitutes)
Is a pacifist
(turn the other cheek)
Gives freely
(if a man takes your coat, give him your cloak, too)
Does not pray in public
(do not pray on the street corner as the pharisees, instead pray in secret chamber)
Does not support religion and government mixing (render to god what is gods and render to caesar what is caesar's)
Never holds a grudge
(if ye forgive not, neither shall ye be forgiven)
judging from the words of jesus alone in accordance with how christians are supposed to act, I have met very very few christians, and most of them are buddhists!!!!!

Some can be rude alright. especially the ones who feel they are prophets of God today with dreams and visions and think they are fulfilling the prophecy of Joel chapter 2. Peter already made that claim in Acts chapter 2.
I just pity them because they are terribly mistaken and lonely.

I'm not an atheist, but I'm not a Christian either.
I know that most Christians don't approve of my religion so I simply don't talk about it. Therefore, most aren't rude to me.

I think your wrong and speaking in generalities.
If you were to say SOME people here are intolerant, I would agree with you. They are mean and have no respect for religion or spirituality.
