If someone asks this question is it not ridiculous to then call them ignorant or that they should read the bible? I mean god is love and you follow god so therefore should you not be showing that same love and compassion to others? I sometimes feel ashamed of calling myself a christian when that religion is grouped with many practitioners of hate.

dont be ashamed,I consider myself a Catholic, but I dont want to be associated with the child molesting priests. One of my friends at work is a Muslim, but he is definately not a terrorist.act as an ambassador for your religion, tolerate other beliefs,be cool, dont get bent when other people put you down,or when others try to give you unsolicited advice on faith. The practicioners of hate calling themseleves Christians are no better than than the Islamic or Jewish extremists who say they fight for God,but are really using God as an excuse to settle some very worldly scores, they are sinners of the worst case.

What you must remember many times your question will tell you much about yourself by the words of the question. Jesus Christ did know men's hearts that asked the question, I can know men's hearts by questions also because I do know the Bible. Jesus Christ loved a rich man that asked the right question, but the rich man could not accept the answer because it did not agree with the way he was raised to become rich. To call a man ignorant is boastful and proud, but yet Jesus did so with a very learned man that came to him after he rejected the truth he taught by saying how can a man be born again, must he crawl into his mothers womb. I always try and answer exactly the way God would answer you if his child asked a question; because there is no question too hard or too dumb for God. Many learned men do know nothing of God though they know the Bible inside and out, Hebrew,Greek, and the meaning of every word, but yet they do not know the author. But remember also God calls people that are like children or unlearned because the people that supposedly know the true, Jesus says will die in their sins.1 Corinthians 1:26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
Matthew 22:15 [ Paying Taxes to Caesar ] Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words.
Here Jesus says words true to form of many reigous people today---Christians, Jews,Moslems, and Catholics; Matthew 23:13 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
You must look to your own motives not others.

If someone asks me "where does it say..." I usually do my best to answer their question.
Now you can generally tell when someone is being just downright rude and antagonistic and I generally ignore questions that go like this: "where does it say that Jesus was a alien and had bad manners..." or something foolish to that effect.

I appreciate your words of correction to the brethren, but I think you should be more specific. If you've seen a Christian (or one who claims he/she is) give an inappropriate or hateful answer perhaps you could write them a personal email and tell them how you feel about it.

Posting your opinion here veiled as a question is more of a passive-aggressive way of dealing with the problem and in the end the only people you're going to get to agree with you are the ones that don't like Christians to begin with. It will put a stumbling block in front of them that I am sure you don't want there. God bless!

It all depends how they ask it. Many people come on here solely for the purpose of being insulting, and they are very pig-headed.

God judges individually. Don't go by what they do. God read YOUR heart. And theirs. Your safe. They are not. Relax. God, bless you.

girl, you are talking about Bible-fundamentalists. do you think by being judgmental and self-righteous they are following the examples of Jesus Christ? is that what a christian should be? just because they call themselves christians doesn't mean they are.
