Nicolay Valuev, the big, but surprisingly effective Russian is now at 46-0 after stopping Jameel McCline in 3.
If he wins 3 more fights, do we consider him as good as Rocky Marciano?

Mike T - Marciano had steeper competition? Really?
He made six defenses against old men - Walcott, Charles (twice), Moore and against all time greats Don Cockell and Roland La Starza.

Honestly I don't see either one of them as that great. Everytime I talk to someone who knows something about boxing they loock at me like im crazy when I speak of Marciano. I mean he's good but he's not as good as an Ali, Frazier, Robinson, Foreman, even a Holyfield. Marciano's only notable win really was against Joe Louis and Louis was at the end of his rope. And I'm not a fan of Valuev. But to answer your question. No, Rocky will be greater than Valuev. Reguardless of his record. They are both extremley overrated.

Brad, The Rock fought and beat great fighters that were indeed past their prime. But they weren't the chopped liver that Don King has been feeding Valuev. Whether the people that are of the opinion that Marciano was overrated want to admit it or not, the Rock was and will always be a legend of the fight game. Valuev should not be considered Marciano's equal.

Absolutely. Read the biography on Rocco Francis Marchegiano he had a manager who hand picked his fights but he is still the greatest fighter of all times. I think having his record broken in my time would be an amazing event I will be glad to see happen. Keep watching this kid Valuev he has something and is so under rated. Look he isn't American but Marcano was Italian and is still the greatest boxer.I only wish the two could fight each other David and Goliath.

As good as Marciano im not sure about that? but as a current world champ with a record of 46 and 0 can he really be as bad as people say. Valuev is not a pretty fighter to watch but as you say is very effective with what he does and underrated by most. I can't see him currently being defeated by anyone any time soon, and i would imagine he will soon eclipse marcianos record and possibly remain undefeated till he retires due to the lack of great heavyweight fighters at the moment.

NO AND A 1000 TIMES. YOU AND SOME OF YOUR NEW FOUND CRONIES ARE SAYING THAT MARCIANO WAS OVERRATED WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE SOME VALIDITY. MY POINT IS IF ROCCO IS OVERRATED THEN VALUEV IS (YOU CAN NOT EVEN DESCRIBE WHAT HE IS?????)

TO REVISIT YOUR PREVIOUS QUESTION ABOUT THIS SAME POINT. YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG WHEN YOU SAY WHAT IS INSIDE A FIGHTER NO LONGER MATTERS BECAUSE OF MODERN ADVANCES.

WHAT IS INSIDE IS WHAT MAKES A WINNER. REMEMBER THE RABBIT AND THE TURTLE. WHAT IS REALLY AMAZING IS THAT AN EXPERT LIKE YOU CAN NOT SEE THAT.

EDIT:
LOUIS, CHARLES, WALCOTT AND MOORE EVEN AS THE HAS BEEN FIGHTERS THAT ROCCO BEAT WOULD DEFEAT VALUEV.

I GUESS SOMEONE IS TRYING TO JOIN THE TROLL FAMILY.

No. Marciano earned most of those wins defending the title, not climbing in the ring with cannon fodder on the way to one. Also, the boxer who does match Marciano will have to have retired undefeated too.

Only great boxers I have seen in last 20 years have been- Sugar Ray, Roy Jones, maybe Evander, Foreman (but from his early days of course), Oscar looked great but never recovered from that fight with Tito Trinidad.

The sport is awful now. I can't believe as great a boxing enthusiast as I am, I could ever prefer UFC, but boxing is so ridiculously corrupt and sub-mental these days it resembles WWF Wrestling. UFC, though not for me, is certainly a throwback to the old ironman days of boxing, where titleholders truly had to defend against the greatest opponents in the sport.

I say yes. Face it, Marciano never REALLY fought a prime "great" either. Marciano never would have been competitative in this day in age. Ofcourse, many will disagree with me. Valuev would have beat Marciano, it is simple to me.

No. Valuev will never be mentioned in the top 100 best heavyweights ever, much less top 10. He is a horrible boxer.

He needs to unify the belts to get more respect. Good showing against McCline except that McCline's knee popped out which is why McCline couldn't continue.

No way. Marciano's competition was much steeper. Who's this Russian guy fought, anyone worthwhile??
