I know that pretty much everyone who has a labret piercing ends up destroying the gums on at least one - usually two - of their lower incisors. The only remedy is to have a minor surgical procedure to TRY to repair the damage once the individual gives up wearing the labret stud. In the worst cases, I've seen very young adults (like 20-22) come in with the tooth about to fall out and it's too late to save it.

Search using "lip piercing periodontal" as a search term and you will find over 2,000 articles documenting this destruction.

Don't get a labret piercing.

Of course this can happen usually messing them up by chipping them. Although there are very few cases of this but there are many ways you can cut the likeliness of this happening which include using PTFE plastic- which can only be used when your piercing has healed and also one your piercing has healed to take it out at night. Good Luck with it if you decide to get it done and remember that it is very rare!`

It can cause hairline fractures that will eventually lead to your teeth breaking. You may not notice them at first but it will happen. Same with tongue rings - not a good idea.
