I agree with all of the churchy people who make comments about your body being your temple... But I also believe that if it is MY temple i will decorate it the way I want to. Why do people feel they need to answer peoples questions about getting tattoos with quotes from the bible?! Why do they judge us (by us i mean those of us who have decorated our temples) when the contents of the temple have not changed, just small parts of the exterior?! I seriously want some answers...

that is another thing that is horse sh*t! just because i have tattoos, or because i watch nascar, or have a lifted truck, or had my daughter at 18, people automatically assume that i am trailer trash... doesn't the bible say something about not judging others?!

You sound like me! I drive a truck, have tats, had my daughter at 18 and I've even lived in a trailer but we are NOT trailer trash! We are normal people living our lives to the best of our ability. I agree with decorating the temple. It's our right. There are some small minded people out there (my mother for one) who for some reason hate tats. It's only cuz they don't have one. If they took the time to get just a small one, they'd be hooked!

Unfortunately, in our society, many people judge others based upon preconceived notions and stereotypes. In the past, individuals with tattoos were associated with negative images and stereotypes, and changing everyone's beliefs/opinions is a difficult thing to do. So although tattoos are becoming more "mainstream" and common, there are still alot of people out there who look down on people with tattoos as, like you say, trailer trash, tramps, criminals, etc. These close-minded people feel very righteous in their beliefs, and it's hard to convince them to see things differently. Personally, I find it sadly funny and annoying at the same time that these people get so hot under the collar about issues that have absolutely no effect on their lives whatsoever. This is a free society, though, and everyone is allowed to think and believe whatever they want; it is just unfortunate that some feel they need to impose their personal standards on everyone else as well.

On the bright side, I find that people who are proud to have their tattoos are independent, confident people who are not bothered by what others may think of their tattoos. After all, they didn't get them for other people, but for themselves.

You are completely right. People shouldn't judge others but they do and we can't stop them. I guess we just need to learn to live with them because people will never stop judging others. I think tattoos are awesome especially if they mean something to the person with the tattoos. Also it does say in the bible that you are not suppose to judge others it's even a sin.

I think just because it's a difference and people seem to be scared of differences and they're ignorant. I am 29, Asian American and my husband is a software engineer....but I'm getting my first tattoo on Friday. Not the stereotypical "trailer trash" mentioned by many individuals with comments about them.

Re: people using quotes from the bible...I don't like it when people use religion as their "fighting point" either because if we want to bring God into this...he is also a very loving God and loves EVERYONE....so why would someone with a tattoo be excluded from that list? I'm not religious personally, believe in God but don't go to church. But in regards to Religious people judging others, you're not supposed to be judging other people...that's not your responsibility, that's supposed to be God's responsibility. Plus, isn't being an overall good person more important than getting all worked up over whether someone has a tattoo??? Come on....there are PLENTY of more important issues going on in the world besides a tattoo.

Also - re: individuals that say "what a waste of money" and "there are TONS of other things that you could do with the money to help people, etc" - They don't know you and they also don't know how much money or time that you spend helping others and donating and such.

Re: people that say - "tattoos are for trailer trash - ewww" - I feel that if one is going to make that argument, or lack of....at least learn to back up their argument. Otherwise they just sound like an ignorant bigot.

Last of all, not all people with tattoos are getting them for other people. They also tell you about the person, where they've been in life, the experiences they've had that they want to celebrate or commemorate. My tattoo is going to be on the side of my lower back and it's going to be the side of her face and it's going to look like she's looking out at the world from behind my skin or from me. It's for ME....my mom actually helped me design it and it's my own little tribute to my daughter. Don't care if others like it or not. It's for me to show people or I can hide it too. I wouldn't want to be friends with people that are going to judge me solely on something as trivial as a tattoo. People need to get over it and find something else to get concerned about. There's alot of other stuff going on in the world people...

Sorry to write a novel....

Because as long as there are people like us who aren't afraid to do what the hell they want with their life, there will always be an opposite load of people who have been brought up with their eyes clouded by ****. They're just small people with closed minds, who even though they're allowed to go around judging us for having tattoos, we're expected to play nice about theit religious views. Bascially, in their minds, they have a god given right to judge us all...apparently, and nothin will change their minds or open their eyes either. So I'm just stickin to doing what the hell I want and not giving piss about what they think

Hi Cassidy, You hit it right on the nail. It is our body, and if we want tattoos, then we get tattoos for ourselves. A lot of church goers are the worse to throw rude commons. When in their throughts they are thinking, boy i wished i could get a cool tattoo. It's all jealous, because they cannot express their true feelng, and tell a story about their lifes in color tattoos. That's want a tattoo does. Oh, I have 5 tats myself. A Friend

Well my mum warned me long time ago she doesn't want any of us to have a tattoo.Well last year thats what I wanted for my Christmas present a Tiger tattoo on my back and I got it.Well my mum saw it and she wasn't happy or well its done. Its so true its just a tattoo not as if u killed someone. Some people shouldn't judge on people that goes to church with tattoo cause thats not the reason we go to church. We go to church to pray and praise God.Love one another not judge one another.

When I got my 1st tattoo my mom cried, when I got my 2nd & 3rd she cried even more, Then I got my 4th to my 13th & she couldn't wait to see them... My mom is one of those old timers (she's 68 years old) that always said "your going to hell if you get tattoos", now that she sees the kind of art that I have she no longer cries about them... I guess a lot of people are stuck in the stone age and they still think that you should not decorate your body... For those people all I have to say is: "I will meet my maker one day and he and only he can pass judgment on me, so I don't give two SH!Ts what you think"... Don't worry about what other people think of you, you got your tattoos for you and no one else, so be proud of what you got and don't be afade to show it!!! I know I do! :-)

It's human nature. People judge others all the time. Get used to it! :-) If you're worried about what others think of you because of your tattoos, maybe you are not completely secure about your reasons for having them.

yeah the bible does say something about not judging others. and MOST of those church going anti-tattoo people have their ears pierced and , in the eyes of god, its the same thing as getting a tattoo, so they are hypocrites. but when you tell them that they say 'oh thats diiferent'
