..it seems like they have been in a drought for a decade or so, but with all the recent rain, is it finally over, or is this just a drop in the bucket?

far from it. we are in worse conditions now with all this heat and no rain
the rain was enough to coat the top layer or soil by a pinch ...
we need rain and plenty of it
our farmers are suffering and the population abuses the water usage

I don't know where you get your information from, "all the recent rain" we have had one day of rain, we are on tight water restrictions and if you break the restrictions you face having your water turned down to a trickle, enough to brush your teeth. Children are playing cricket on pitches that used be be lakes, some of the catchments are down to 16% it is going to take a lot more than one day of rain to fix the problem

Most probably with the global worming thing, we will have problems for long to go. The heart is rising means more water evaporates and with the rain amount staying constant!!!! Yep not a sweat thing…………… grab your pots.
