the police do help us to a certain degree but they can be brutal in some of there actions I'm from the UK and the police here dont carry guns except for the police who patrol our airports and the police who are called to a potential shooting or hostage situation where members of the public are either a threat or there is a hostage situation involving a gun.i dont think by us carrying guns would make life ant better for anyone the police have made many a mistake with shooting innocent victims who they thought where carrying a gun,there mistakes have not been learn ed from because this Carry's on even though police officers apologise and are then investigated.its a good question you asked but i dont think there is a reasonable answer that could answer your question

In the State's if you don't have the cops the other alternative is the National Guard, which one would you prefer ? Every time I've been to the state's I've found the cops really friendly, mind you i never tried to mug someone or taken a hostage, so maybe my view is a bit bias. In the UK we do have the Armed response unit, OK they are not so trigger happy as some of your cops, but then we really don't have the gun crime as much as you do.
Its seems to me that as your bill of rights allows every American has the right to carry arms then how is a cop to know if the guy he pulls over isn't going to start shooting, so is cautious when approaching a suspect, and any sign of weapons is going to draw his weapon. In the state's it seems that every week some one is walking into a school and committing murder's.The sooner America Ban's weapons then it may well be on the right path to cutting its gun crime, but somehow i feel that's never going to happen as Americans love their guns

I am sorry you feel so biased against the police force in your country but if we had general arming and ability to kill anyone who even looked sideways at you, what kind of place would that be. Support law and order and not violence and misbehaviour from anyone and that includes rogue policemen

well here in england cops do not carry gun, but from what i watch on t.v i think americans cops can be too aggressive at times.
