Well our Bible is our first reference source, Johns gospel gives us a great insight into this. " In the beginning was the word and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us.." Also when you read Jesus's answers to questioning he said before "Abraham before I am" we begin to get an idea of who Gods son is.
A second source can be dreams and visions that many People have had including myself. We are made in Gods image and have the ability to reproduce this must be within God also but it clearly is stated " his only begotten Son". Best to ask God himself when you met him face to face or ask him vire prayers and help with his holy spirit the third part of God.

There are a million jokes allover this that I'll leave alone.
God didn't make his son. Jesus, like God, has always been. Don't expect to understand it because God made our finite minds to NOT understand it. Kind of like spell check. Sorry. Couldn't resist.

This is a good question and I will try to provide you with a very good answer.
GOD is GOD and is capable of anything. He made HIS Son (Jesus) in a supernatural way. He simply decided it was time to set people straight once and for all.
So HE did something unbeleivable. Now, do you remember how in the old testament days the people sacrificed a goat or lamb for there sin? They placed their sins on the head of the lamb and then sacrificed it so their sins would be forgiven before GOD...An example of this is Abraham- GOD told Abraham to sacrifice his son... Abraham being obedient to GOD was actually going to do this. GOD was pleased with Abraham and knew he loved his boy. ... and just before Abraham did this for GOD,
GOD provided a way out for the life of Abes son and sent a goat into the nearby bush. God told Abraham to spare his son.
Some people today have missed out on GODS plan and still are still wrongly sacrificing goats and lambs- (READ ON).
NOW, step forward a few thousand years and GOD realizes these people over and over and over keep sacrificing the goat or lambs for their sins... so the continual sacrificing just didnt cut it... So HE decided to put a stop to all of those sacrifices and have only one more. GOD did this thing supernaturally- GOD has three parts to HIM in a way (GOD THE FATHER, JESUS AND, THE SPIRIT OF GOD just like you have a body, a mind, and a soul) GOD AND JESUS are sort of the same and the bible says Jesus has been a part of GOD since the beginning.
Christ became born as a man given the name of Jesus the Christ(Messiah) for His time on earth. Rmember the lamb thing was not all the way working and also GOOD wanted 'all' of mankind to have the same opportunity to meet GOD by giving everyone a way to have their sins forgiven. So, GOD decided to come to earth to become the last and final lamb to be slain. He miraculously became born on earth, by Mary a virgin , (that HE could be in human form that you and I and all people would be able to relate to HIM ... and also that HE would first hand know our lives, both good and bad ) HE was born for the whole purpose to die on the cross. JESUS was the very last lamb
(a metaphor of sorts) to be sacrificed for sin. It works the same way- every man has the opportunity to place their sins on the JESUS the LAMB- and ask for forgivenes of their sin, just like they did in the olden days. But this time, the Lamb died for all sin ever done and all sin in our future. It is one time only GOD requires us to go to the Lamb Jesus and ask for the forgiveness of our sin and to have relationship with GOD, HIS SON, and HIS HOLY SPIRIT. This all can only be explained by the fact that GOD is GOD and by what we would call a miracle, HE provided a way for every man to have a relationship with HIM forever.
