You body mass index suggests you are obese BUT this can be inaccurate for people with more athletic and muscular builds. Muscle is heavier than fat.
Also, if your waist size is more than 37 inches this would be classed as a health risk. If you're not a fatty but a fitty this may be a fairer representation of your size.

Everyone is different, he is going on the norm.
Can't really fault him for that. Ask to take an endurance test with heart monitor and get blood test if you are worried. Otherwise do what you want like everyone else.
There is a 300lb professional triathlete, but I guarantee that most other 300 pounders are medically unfit. Like I said, if you feel you are right, then make sure. Just for peace of mind.
By the way, I'm 230lb, 6'1" and large framed (I only really realise this when I see my hands and feet in relation to someone else's). If I lost 15-20 pounds I would be fighting fit and even now can outdo most my age (37). I bicycle, hike and swim regularly. I admit that if I take a week vegging I am quite worried about how much I regress once I get on the bike. And as far as the insides go, I would rather not know - being a typical meat eating, partying and smoking male. But if I were to weight what the charts say I should, I would be unhealthy in my mind.

Don't worry too much about it. As long as you are fit and eat a sensible diet etc you'll be as healthy as some very slim/light people. Being happy and comfortable in your own skin is far healthier than being miserable and the 'ideal' weight. Problems would arise as you get older and don't do the exercise but still carry the extra pounds.

i dont think you would be considered overweight, how much muscle you have, if you have them flabby man boobs, then you are a fat 260, but if you muscly then you dont have to worry bout it. if i was 6-4 i would try to be around the 220 range and hitting the weights like a mofo.

Your Doctor is a little wrong dude , but not that wrong , your not that over weight by any stretch of the imagination. 120 kgs is quiet heavy but not for someone your height. I would say your overweight by about 15 kgs.

Because the doctor knows more about your body than you do. And he has seen people like you before and knows how they will end up if they don't get their weight off. Just because you don't feel it doesn't mean there's no damage to your organs. You also can't always feel cancer, and it still kills you.

According to Ideal Weight charts you are 53lbs overweight, but if you're happy the way you are then why worry?

Because he went to school for a minimum of eight years to study the effect of health conditions. You know, things like obesity and such.
I have a feeling when he made that comment he was thinking more of your heart than your ego. I bet he's sorry if you took it the wrong way. Maybe you should take himm out for coffee and explain your pity story to him so he can rephrase his response to suit your emo personality.
