Yes it does. But it has to be the white type or it won't work. You can also buy some cream or something at a nearby dispensary store.

There are many "housemade" remedies for burns, but some of them are dangerous and can complicate a first grade burn, there are 3 levels of burn, the first level are those that we made whit a hot iron or when u touch a hot surface and it don´t "open" your skin, the second level are those who affect sub dermis and create populars, and third level are those which affect subdermical fat, and even muscle or bone, for any of these 3 levers u must get professional advice. But there a some first aids that u can do when u have an accident at home: 1.- take off the element that is burning, 2.- if the burning was whit fire, vapor, boiling water or some otter substance boiling as oil, u MUST go to a ER immediately, if there are any of these just wash the affected zone whit cold water, put some clean napkins or anything like that and go to the ER.

Color doesnt matters. Toothpaste has cooling effect which makes you feel better. But it is not for serious burns.. just when you touch hot utensil by mistake & you dont have any burnol handy. You can also apply some dough. Wheather you apply toothpaste or dough, just put that body part in cold water for a few minutes.
Lastly, its not a remedy.. its just a "jugaad".

I don't believe that it helps heal the burns, but I would imagine that the cooling effect would help them feel better.
