If we were able to figure out the name of the woman who posed for Leonardo da Vinci, it would not make the painting any more beautiful, or valuable, or important in the history of art.

I think art historians who have wondered about the identity of "Mona Lisa", want to know the nature of artistic inspiration. Why did Leonardo choose her? What was the "secret" of her beauty and the mysterious "smile".

But, in many ways, we will never know. It is better left a mystery. It is beautiful. That is enough.

Well, it does not matter at all now that the artist and the model are death. What matters is the beauty of the artwork. And in this case it is exceptional!
