We have 2 male cats, about 5 months old. One of them has been peeing on everything and its really frustrating. I clean their litter box everyday. And he doesnt just pee a little bit on things. Its A LOT of pee. When we get them neutered, is there any hope that the peeing will stop? Or is it a once they start, they never stop, thing?

Hi there...cats reach sexual maturity at the age of 5-7 months and will urine spraying to mark territory. Neutering will be the only way to stop the urine spraying as this is hormonally driven and should be done as soon as possible as this can become habitual and difficult to control even after neutering.

Nearly all shelters worldwide offer low fee spay/neuter services. Consider contacting your local shelter in your region to schedule an appointment. If you are located in the USA you can locate a particpating low fee spay/neuter shelter by ringing 1-800-SPAY USA http://spayusa.org

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

I'm not sure if your cat is marking his territory or just doing his duty where ever he feels like it. Does he lift his tail and spray furniture, walls or maybe curtains? If that is what he is doing he is marking his territory . You will never get the smell out no matter what you do. Consider clothing ruined if he sprays on them. You might think you got the smell out but soon you will realize the smell is still there and it isn't a pleasant smell! If you get him fixed before he's a year old the chances of him not spraying anymore is good. If you wait any longer than that it becomes very iffy that he will stop. Get him fixed as soon as possible so you don't get mad at him for what nature is causing him to do. Oh yes, he will need his shots before they will neuter him. Some vets are very expensive so call around. Also don't listen to anyone if they tell you the smell WILL go away because I am positive it will not!! Good Luck!!

Your cats have scent confusion. Once they pee once outside the litterbox they will have scent confusion. The pee leaves a scent that they smell and since they are cats, they can have scent confusion as the right place to go potty. Go to petco.com or drsfostersmith.com and purchase Dumb Cat. Spray it on and leave it anywhere the cat has pee'd. A black light works best at night to find the spots where they pee'd. Go to poop-off.com and read the FAQ's about cat not using the litterbox. Good luck.

Once they start, they don't stop. At least that's what my mother seems so sure of, but I don't have much experience with mature intact male cats. Get them both fixed and see if there is a way to train him out of the habit.

it's cuz they are marking territory. it'll stop. close doors to rooms to keep them out, and use a spray bottle on them when they are caught. and let them outside to pee.
