I've heard froma couple military wives that they recieved degrees online because of the relocating. Which school are actually CREDIBLE? I know most are scams, over priced, or their "degrees" simply aren't useful in a real career field. I want to continue schooling to become a teacher.

A lot of colleges offer "distance learning" options. Essentially, any college where you could actually choose to attend classes on campus, but that also offer a distance learning option are going to be credible. There are several Library Science schools like that, that are still ALA certified. So pick a school you like, locally or otherwise, and then look into whether or not they provide that option.

The thing is, just because you're taking the classes online, doesn't mean they're going to cost any less, and sometimes they ignore the idea of "in state" tuition and end up costing more. So if you're really interested in continuing your education, you may want to look into finding a way to take night classes or readjust your schedule to attend classes on campus at a university.

those probably not.... but some actually are... some well known colleges and universities offer some online programs.... but my daughter-in-law is taking one from a widely advertised on-line university... a business degree course.... I had tougher courses in Jr High.... I am a 63yr old HS drop-out.... and I could make up a better curriculum than the so-called degree online she is getting.... I have taken some Jr College courses and they were better prepared than what a lot of government grant money is paying for on-line... I could also do better on the course than my D in L is doing.... if you think my writing here is bad you should see hers.... and she is getting Bs and As... I got a better business education as a door-to-door salesman than she is getting "on-line"

No online degree commands the same respect as that of a "brick and mortar" university on your resume. Many employers, especially those that went to a real university consider that 'buying' your degree. However if due to your situation it must be online, I agree with JC above that you should choose a brick and mortar university that offers a distance learning program. No one will know the difference.

Check out Baker College out of Michigan.

www.baker.edu

Very affordable at $180 per credit hour.

4 semesters per year, 2 6-week sessions per semester.

I don't know about a teaching certificate but in our state, all you have to have to challenge for a teaching cert is a bachelor's degree.
