In average condition, that vehicle would have a wholesale value of about $1000. Seeing as it has relatively low mileage, and four brand new tires, you could add a couple of hundred dollars to that figure to end up with a value of about $1200. Deduct the cost of the head gasket, which will be a couple of hundred dollars at the very least, and allow for the fact that people are not going to pay much for a project car, and you come up with the sad facts.

With a blown head gasket, that car is worth a few hundred dollars on a good day. I would not want to pay any more that $250 for it and that would be conditional on the tires being a brand name!

If you have the head gasket replaced, and the car is in good running condition, you most likely can sell it retail for $2000 or so! It may be worth it to fix it and sell it that way!!

96 Pontiac Grand Am with a blown head gasket?

If you take more than $500 for it, you are a thief.

check out the kelly blue book online, and enter in all the info about the car and it will tell you its value. Use the private party estimate, not the trade-in value since you are going to be selling it to someone.

Go to www.kbb.com {Kelly Blue Book], and they will give you separate figures for what a dealer might pay for it, and what a private individual might pay.
