I've always found myself to not have an entirely normal personality. I have drastic highs-and-lows. I'll be in complete dispare one week, and I'll be on top of the world the next. And I can't seem to cry at the right times. I cried a river the last time my pet bird died, but I can't seem to be sad for my friend who just got his head bashed against the road in a car crash. I'm not sure if he'll live or die, but I can't seem to be sad for him, though I know it would be proper to be in my room sobbing right now. I get bored with my friends a lot too..I don't have a deep attachment to them. And sometimes I can't stand to be around anyone, and other times I need to be with people.

Yeah..So, maybe I'm just weird (or perhaps perfectly normal), but I thought I'd see what you all think nontheless.

Actually, I believe my father is bipolar. I'm still not entirely convinced that's what I have. I rarely get mad. Even if I did have it, I wouldn't want the medication. That would be kind of throwing my entire being out the window.

Sounds like manic depression to me. See a healthcare professional. They can give you meds to keep your moods more even.

the first part sounds like a manic/depressive disorder.the other bit comparing the sadness over the bird and the indifference about your friend sounds normal. friends come and go, but a pet is dependant upon you and you form a very intense bond with them.the bright side is that many manic depressives are extremely talented and creative during the high end of the cycle. also most"normal" people never learn that animals are much more trustworthy than people.

Well, I'd say that your last statement about not wanting medication because of your "being" should point you in the direction of bi-polar mental disorder. Most people who have this problem don't mind telling your their symptoms however, don't want to be medicated for them. You also are stating that you have no empathy for anyone. That's a major hallmark of bipolar disorder. You probably piss alot of people off including those who love you. If you want relationships in your life and want quality of life, you will seek professional help and if you're given medication, take it! Your disorder is not your fault and you would be so much happier. Not to mention the fact that being around you would be more pleasant for everyone else. If you weren't concerned, you wouldn't have written asking others what they think. I think you need help. Godloveya.

Bipolar disorder/manic depressive disorder are the same thing. Do some research on these. There are several places on the web to take a little quiz to see if you match the symptoms. It can be treated with medication. This is what it sounds like you match the most. Good luck. Definitely seek help, though. It tends to run in families. Take care.

Some type of personality disorder, not bipolar though. Just a regular antidepressant should mellow out your moods. Does your mind race? Does it feel like a tornado is inside your brain especially at night when you are trying to go to sleep? If so, could be an anxiety disorder with ADD. Still, an antidepressant should help.

Sounds exactly like me! I was diagnosed with bipolar, so go figure lol. Bipolar-2, if that helps any. As far as meds go, I feel exactly how you do about them. That's why I don't take mine.

I THINK YOU ARE CLOSE TO NORMAL. AT LEAST YOU SHOW FEELING WHICH MANY DONT., YOU SEEM TO CATEGORIZE HAPPENINGS AS EXTREME OR MAYBE NOT AT ALL. FIND AN EQUILIBRIUM AND STAY WITH IT. IN OTHER WORDS DONT JUDGE THE ACT AS THIS WAY OR THAT AND THEN SHOW EITHER NO FEELING OR EXTREME FEELING. USE MODERATION IN YOUR THINKING AND FAIRNESS TO ALL CONCERNED. STAY FRIENDLY AND HAPPY BUT JOIN IN TO LEARN AND LEAVE THE EXTREME STUFF ALONE .
