It was prophicied in the bible that Jesus would be in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights just like Jonah was in the belly of the whale.

The day begins at sundown. In Genesis it says, "And the evening and the morning were the first day." etc.

There are many Sabbaths in the Jewish calendar. There was another very important and prophetic Sabbath the week that Jesus was crucified. He was crucified on a Wednesday and was taken down from the cross Wednesday evening before sundown in preparation of the High Sabbath of the First Day of Unleavened Bread, which fell on a Thursday. He was in the grave Wednesday night, Thursday night, and Friday night, and by the beginning of Sunday, which is at sundown Saturday evening, he had arisen. Glory to his name!

His own prophecy said he'd rebuild the temple (his body) in 3 days, it made no mention of nights nor did he say they were full days.

Christ was crucified and died on Friday. Sundown occurs, the sabbath start. It is now the 2nd day, remember the Hebrew Calendar measures days from sun down to sun down and being Jewish it's quite likely that's the calander Christ would be using. Friday night passes, Saturday passes till sundown, it's now the 3rd day, night passes and sometime on Sunday we don't know the exact time the two Marys come to annoint the body with herbs and oils they couldn't purchase once the Sabbath started (at sundown on Friday) and discover the stone rolled from the tomb and Christs body missing. Still the third day.

PS Jonah was in the belly of "a great fish" you must be thinking of Gepetto with the whale.

Because He died on Passover. Read the Gospel of John.

Last supper was called "the night before the passover"

Easter is from the Pagan Roman sytem, once called Ishtar. Celebrated Tammus false resurrection from Babel.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday = 3 distinct daily periods, and portions of all three were divided into both day and night.

Jonah's stay in the fish (not a whale) was similar.

If you know better, please prove it.

in 2000 years I doubt you're the first person ever to think of that.

the whole 'days' and 'nights' thing is fuzzy in the bible anyway. does it mean whole days? whole nights? it depends how you count them.

anyway, your mathematical challenge is unlikely to change the faith of a person who believes that one god is three people ... or that a virgin gave birth ... or that a man rose from the dead ...

It doesn't matter.

Go Google "Ostara," and then come back and talk about the validity of Easter.
