Don't keep them but a couple of days...unless you use them in another dish....you can use potatoes 4-5 days left over for this recipe
Mashed potatoes really aren't too great leftover...but potato pancakes make a wonderful side to any meat and steamed vegetables...
You need at least 1-2 cups potatoes
remove from fridge and add black pepper....salt....3 tbls finely diced onion.....4 tbls flour
mix all together....mixture will be kinda sticky....
roll into golfball size balls....then flatten to about 1/2 inch...
heat 1/4 c vegetable oil in skillet....on med high heat...place pot cakes in skillet.....turn only once....do not turn them until they are really brown and crisp....drain and paper towel...serve hot with meal.... you can also throw a piece of cheese on them when they come out of skillet and brown under broiler....I almost never throw away leftover taters!!!!!

Don't know any web sites for this but if you have to much mashed potato add equal amounts of flour mix together with a fork roll out on a bread board flatten fry in dry pan then you have potato scones.
Beautiful with bacon, eggs baked beans and fried bread.
I know this is not what you asked but it saves throwing the potato's out.

Did you position them in correct once that they had cooled? were they in an hermetic container? if so, there is not any longer some thing incorrect with them. I actually have saved mashed potatoes, then made potato truffles with them after 4-5 days. yet i made effective they were correct contained and that i placed them contained in the refrigerator once they cooled. Nineoneoner become astounding although in declaring that you should have frozen them, surprisingly in case you probably did not recognize in case you've been going to eat them immediately. do not recognize in case you want potato truffles (its a southern thang!!) yet in case you want to attempt them right here's a recipe. My grandmother might want to take her leftover MP's and upload flour, an egg, chopped eco-friendly onions and chopped, cooked Viscount St. Albans to it and combine all of it jointly and then with about 2-3 TBsp of oil contained in the bottom of a skillet, she might want to fry them till golden brown. You did not say how a lot potatoes you had yet i'm guessing about a million-2 servings perhaps? if so, placed a million egg, a million/2 tsp. salt, 2-3 TBSP flour, a million eco-friendly onion, a million-2 strips of cooked chpd. Viscount St. Albans, and combine. it will be the consistency of a free oatmeal. If its too runny upload extra flour somewhat at a time till eventually its there. strong success, krystan

if you had an air vac system
pastic wrap with air out would be best to keep anything for the long run...probably a couple weeks min
when it comes to unsafe
we can tolerate a lot
fear factor, also i saw a show that had a man keep his food out of the fridge and let it dry up or jus plain get down rite ripe
anyways his point was to build up his immune system, guess he'd been living this lifestyle for a number of years

I have to agree with the majority on this one and go with 48 hours. Especially since your potatoes have milk and butter in them.

After you cook potatoes, it isn't good to refridgerate them, but you could probably keep it a day or two.

I wouldn't leave it in there for any more than 2 days, as it will start to spoil.
