Hey!,
I'd like to suggest Kenpo Karate, check that out on the web and watch some technique video clips or, go to...youtube.com and in the search box type in Kenpo Demo.
Kenpo is the best I've been into of some 6 (or more) different Arts I have studied, Kenpo self defense techniques are truly awesome.
Good luck and I hope this information helps.

Boxing is great at teaching striking, footwork, conditioning, practical sparring, etc. Kickboxing has the same. Muay Thai adds the knees and elbows (elbows being one of my favorites) is also good for the above. I like Kenpo Karate but that will depend upon your instructor. I would add weight training if the art or sport you take does not.
Best of luck.

You already learned a good striking art in Tae Kwon Do. Try finding a good kung fu school and research what their style in about. Ex-TKD students who went to the kung fu school I attend (Shaolin dragon) initially had to adjust to the apparent lack of hard techniques but gradually learned that techniques learned were really nasty when the applications were explained. Plus you learn that there's more to just hitting in a fight (like absorbing blows, defense, how to not be a victim of different situations, joint locks and how to quickly and safely end a fight). But find a good school so you learn, what ever you decide to take. Good luck.

Fights always go to the ground, ur better off doing something like brazilian jiu jitsu, kicking isn;t very effective in fighting unless u gangbash people. is that what u planning to do or self defense ?
anywayz ground martial arts is alot more fitness intest. and believe it or not but ur much safer fighting from the ground if u know some nice locks u can really get the other person to basically beg to let em go, it feels much nicer as well better then giving someone a black eye, becareful if u go for chokes can you can litterally blackout / braindamage or even kill a person.
police uses some of these tactics. and its reasonably easy to get someone to the ground if u know how to do it, don;t even have to be strong.
i am asian i've never had real trouble keeping my feet, even though i don;t have much martial arts knowledge, its all in the mind budy. violence isn;t the way but if push comes to shove the rabbit bites alot harder then the tiger :)

You seem to have a good disposition. I would suggest that at this point in your life you are ready to choose some type of Martial Art that you will study and make part of your life. You need to study up on some disciplines that interest you. Then you will be able to make an educated decision on which one will keep your interest and keep you practicing.

I am a practicioner of WTF TKD. I belive that Muay Thai is an excellent striking martial art that has a practical approach on the streets. It doesn't have emphasis on those high kicks that they teach us, and just gives you the bare basics of fighting.
