Buy sterile hollow-tip piercing needles, 14 gauge is a good size, on the internet. Sterilize the area, pierce. Do not remove the needle. Follow the end of the needle with the beginning of the jewelry. Secure the jewelry. It is very important to disinfect the area often to avoid infection. Follow standard after-piercing care. Good luck!

NO! do not do any of these at home! The risk of serious infection is very high. You cannot properly sterilize the needles etc. that you will be using (no, burning the end of a needle does not sterilize it). A tattoo w/ a home kit (if they actually make them, which in and of itself would be dumb) would turn out to be a mess! And you are stuck w/ it!!! By the way, the whole laser removal thing is very expensive, painful and not always very effective. You saying "law", makes me think you are too young to get one in your state or any state, which only means that this is a bad time to make a decision like this (check out someone you know w/ a "home" tattoo and tell if if you think its artwork!). As far a safety at a tattoo/piercing shop, you need to go to a reputable place, see the work the artists have done, talk to people - go check 'em out. Does it look clean, do they act professional? OK... I read some of your comments you added after I wrote this... Listen, not to be harsh, but you need to find a better way of communicating your feelings and realize that cutting ultimately solves nothing. There is help for you. You need to be able to talk to someone who will listen to you, value you, care for you. If you can't go to your parents got to another trusted adult or school counselor. The whole witchy-dark-needy-victim thing is not so cool or attractive when you're 25 or 30 & >!! If you feel neglected or desperate , get help!! Good luck.

Hey its your body, I think you will be making a mistake, first with the unsterilized "equipment" which by the way, what do you plan on poking yourself with? a sewing needle will do some serious tearing to the delicate skin, it will end up looking like s**t, you have to take into consideration the placing as well, or the ring/barbell will not sit properly and keep in mind if you manage to get the needle in, is the ring small enough to follow it through? If it is many gauges larger than the needle it will be almost impossible to get it through with out either ripping your piercing or giving up. Also your homemade tattoo idea, do you plan on old school cave man **** or do you want to actually make a tattoo gun with the motor, spoon and the guitar string?

Depends on what you used to pierce it. If you used a safety pin, it's to small and you might have to leave it in for a few days to stretch it for the bar to fit. If you used a thick or sewing needle you still might have to work it a bit and push it through kinda hard because it is still smaller then a bar. If you used a hollow needle then the none poky end should have a hole for you to put the bar in it so that as you pull the needle out it pulls the bar through the hole at the same time with no effort, but with saying that hopefully if you used a hollow you pierced it going up and not down, it needs to be up for you to pull the bar through:) Good luck with all that.

If you really don't know that much about what you are doing I would definitely recommend having it done at a place professionally. My mom pierced her one belly button and it ended up getting infected really bad and she had to take it out and it left a scar. I got mine down professionally and I have had no problems. I've had it for 3-4 years now and I love it. Tattoo and piercing shops are safe.

hon, dont do it unless u want 2 get AIDS, i've lost count of the people i've heard of getting AIDS cuz they didnt sterilize their needle very well! tattoo/piercing parlors r always the best! not 2 mention, everyone who pierces their own navel has taken a several hour long process 2 actually get the needle through, at a parlor they can get it done much faster!

BAD IDEA....just suck it up and go to a studio and let a professional do it. do you realize the chances of infection, and do you really think it's worth it?
you're concerned about the safety of a studio, but you're willing to just "stick" something through your skin? it's totally not worth the risk. and numbing it won't do anything. i've never met a piercer that used anything to numb an area before they pierced it. and home made tattoos...again BAD IDEA. sterile is the only way to go. leave the body modifications to the professionals.

You're concerned about safety and hygiene at tattoo shops, but you want to do it on your own???

That makes no sense. You have no knowledge of anatomy, which is required for piercings. As for homemade tattoos, that's just as dumb.

Grow up.

NO! how old are you?! i guess you are not old enough to get it done professionally.. ther are reasons for this... if you are young you will be at risk for migration and rejection.. also if you do it wourself you will NOT have anything sterilized at all... you may "sanitize it" but boilign whatever you are going to use in water and what not but you can still end up with a nice infection! which can lead to rejection and lead you to a NASTY lookign distorted navel.. do you knwo what size needle to use? do you konw what SIZE jewelry to use to accomidate for swelling> do you know what metal most people ARENT allergic too? do you know the proper aftecare? piercings are meant for PROFESIONAL! you are not! same goes with tattoos.. but its your body! have fun screwign it up! im sure there are a few REPUTABLE places where you live or around your area.. i drive 40 minutes to get to mine!

call them and ask questions. ask to talk to the piercer and ask how long they have been piercing and thier training ect...

please wait till you of age and get all those done professionally

if you pierce to shallow you will have the jewelry tear out or reject. pierce to deeply you wil hit a muscle and cause serious damage... do you even have the right anatomy to suport a navel piercing???

please save your money. wait till you are old enough and get it done professionally

im not even going to talk about the tattoos cause that is just so ridiculous...all of these questions are ridiculous.. good job on not cuttign anymore though!.. but please wait till you are older and get them professionally done! you will be alot better off in the long run!

The safety of a tattoo/piercing parlor is MUCH better than the safetly of doing it at home.

To successfully pierce your naval, a hollow needle is needed. It is not something you can do yourself. You will end up infected and with it closing up. Pay the $50 and have it done professionally, if you're really concerned about safety, have a dr. do it, my sister got her naval pierced by a surgeon while she was having laproscopic surgery.
