I certainly am; which is why it irritates me when people post quesions or answers claiming that they alone know The Truth, but don't allow IM or e-mail so that I can discuss it with them.
I wonder if they realise how many potential converts they are losing that way.
Just wondering what other people think.

OK - thanks fo rthe answers so far - well, except djm749 (boring!).
I will try to get back to everyone who expressed interest ASAP - have three people online at the moment. Please forgive any delay - this could be an interesting day.

To clarify: I am a lesbian, and Buddhist
I get annoyed by people who call themselves Christians telling me I am going to burn in hell on either or both those gounds - and then won't discuss the matter with me.

In total agreement with you on that. Or if you post a question, and they are nothing but rude and think they are right and real mouthy. But then you have no way to contact them to discuss with them what they just mouthed off. And they usually don't come back to check questions they have already answered so it does no good to post remarks back to them on your question.

What do I think? Well, I'm quite happy to debate 'life, the Universe and everything', though I don't know I can offer much on the 'Truth'!
Although I actually quite like this format because I can see multiple viewpoints at a time, rather than just one. But I appreciate it isn't a 'discussion' forum.
I accept email. And if it's any help, I 'went through' Buddhism and came out the other side (!).
Good for you for raising this abetterfate, even if you don't contact me.

I am interested in The Truth but I'm not interested in getting emails from nutjobs (I don't mean you, I mean random crazy people who think The Truth is what the voices in their head tell them)
this is not a forum for discussion, it's supposed to be for asking and answering questions. it's not like a regular blog where you can get a real conversation going.
by the way, I allow email but not IM

I too am interested very much in The Truth. Please email me. I will discuss it with you. My favorite subject. An itch I can't scratch but would if I could is the habit of most to provide no evidence whatever for what they understand to be true. They proudly babble-on. I don't do that. I'm guessing you don't either. Thank you for that in advance.

i have found that people who say they are interested in my beliefs end up getting very defensive and attacking. i am open to discuss anything as long as someone maintains respect and isn't being rude and insulting. i am extremely open to discussion, but have found that the other person is not always as gracious. and i allow email.

I also am interested in what you say you are interested in. I claim to have found answers that satisfy me but I am open to new ideas......feel free to email me via my pic if you wish to discuss and compare the answers you have found with the answers I have.

I don't know. Personally, I do allow IM, but I don't think other people have to. They just want to ask and answer questions. What's wrong with that?

Maybe they don't want a bunch of weirdos emailing them or like their privacy. Most people who think they know everything and say whatever they believe is gospel truth isn't someone you can debate with anyhow. You can't argue with a crazy person. They always win. In fact, getting away from people who think like that is probably your best bet.

I think you are right they should allow other people to contact them and to know more but if they wont let them then they are most likely to be fakes
