Jealousy. Honestly. Jewish people have adapted for thousands of years, and no matter how much they are persecuted, they maintain their dignity, self-respect, and values. (I am in no way suggesting that all Jews are perfect, or that there aren't Jewish radicals, criminals, and ignorants. All groups have those quantities.) Jews are stereotyped, just like other races, because there are differences in culture that are noticeable enough to distinguish them from others. They are often disliked because they often are successful, the same reasons any other people are disliked. Regarding religion, Jews are often accused of murdering Jesus. It was the Romans who crucified Jesus, an irony not lost on those of us without much respect for the Catholic sect of Christianity. Jesus had much criticism for His own faith, and disrupted the Jewish leaders with His teachings. Eventually, the church turned Him over to the law. You know the rest. Christianity has, in the past, had much animosity toward the Jewish faith. Other religions, such as Muslims, also have animosity toward the Jews, but I think it has more to do with land than religion itself.

The probable reason why people dislike the Jewish Community
and the Jewish race is the belief that they are the chosen people. This of course means that every one outside the Jewish community is not. So, you need to ask yourself a question before you go any further: ''when you become a member of the Jewish faith will God love you beter than anyone in the Christian, Muslim
Buda or other world faiths'' ? If you say yes I believe that you are possibly doing the right thing.
But if you don't believe in Jewish privilege why not look at the 'Universal Doctrine' a faith that throws out all other faiths and starts from scratch. Unfotunately, theres nothing in this movement for those who wish to fight or use it for their own ends. In this faith all men are equal there are no color or ethnic restictions and the basis is to love all people as you would love yourself, yes your right it steals that what makes sense from other religions but also adds to the universal knowledge and discards the rubbish. God is not an entity but lives in every man, woman and child that has lived, lives and will live, The UD also recognises the Dark side and that also lives inside man the only stament/promise/prophecy made in this Doctrine is that good will always overcome evil when the two can be distinguished. It recognises science and that some of the views of the truly greatt philosphers.
No one believing in the UD will press someone who is not ready to believe into becoming a convert ''all men must find there own way'' I hope you do.

Even athiests are welcome as there are no supernatural beings to disconnect your mind from reality. When you find yourself you really do find somthing special.

Congratulations!

It's always a special thing when someone finds a religion they fit well with.

Now what you'll have to contend with. Many Jews are not going to accept you even after you convert if you don't already have jewish blood in you.

And that's number 1 on my list of why Jew's are disliked - their Bigotry.

They are very active in attempting to keep their community closed. Jewish should only marry/date Jewish. Try to make business deals with other Jewish first. It's hard to take them serious when they whine about being prejudiced against when they are doing the same thing. Luckilly some of this is changing - and as it does on one side it seems to on the other as well.

I've never met anyone who openly disliked Jews so I can't really answer your question. But in the past there have been many reasons, none of which old much merit, but then hate has never been something based on logic.

Christians for many centuries blamed Jews for Jesus's death, of course the fact that he had to die to cleanse their sins or the fact that the Roman's did the actual killing tended to get ignored.

The Nazis took this ignorant concept to the next level and added in the bizarre belief that the Jewish people were tainting their culture and genetic purity.

Stereotypes and simple ignorance tend to be the basis for much dislike you'll ever encounter.

I think there are several reasons.
Historically, as non-Christians embedded in a christian society, they have had the taint of 'otherness' and been made the scape-goats for many social ills. This pre-dates the Nazis by centuries. The fact that Jewish communities kept themselves distinct as a racial and ethnic group, rather than inter-marrying, perpetuated this. A big factor was the 'blood libel' in the bible, in which the Jews accepted guilt for the death of Jesus for all generations to come. Until very recently, christian churches officially considered all Jews to be guilty of his murder.
Today, I think some people associate all Jews with the actions of the Israeli government. A surprising number of people still seem to believe the 'international secret government of Jews' crap as portrayed in the infamous 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion', a fake document that describes the Jews trying to run the world from behind the scenes. A lot of Muslim countries still accept this as fact.
Finally, there are groups of extreme orthodox Jews who, frankly, behave is such a religo-fascist way they seem to invite and relish the disdain of non-Jews. Some people can not distinguish between one sub-group of Jews and another, the situation is complicated, I think because of the confused dichotomy between 'Jew' as an ethnic origin and 'Jew' as a religious faith. A little like saying all Americans should be judged by the actions of the Klu Klux Klan.

There are plenty of reasons to criticise Israel in the modern day, but there are few reasons to criticise Judasim. It seems like a very practical, educationally orientated religion, and unlike many other religions, there seems to be an element of humour involved in being jewish. This is fundamentally pratical as humour is probably humanity;s greatest outlet and a very effective conduit for truth.

The main reasons that Jewish people have been persecuted is because 1. They have been succesful, 2. because they have been percieved as separatist.
The latter perception is somewhat ironic as I do not believe that there is a single example of a people more inclined and more able to intergrate into a society's culture.
Judaism is a faith that doesn't tend to make a song and dance about itself (except of course in Hollywood) like Christianity does. Ok, the "Chosen One" concept is outdated and Israel is the most anti-semetic country in the world (Arabs are semites, too), But the standard response of Jewish people is, like the majority of Muslims, one of restraint and dignity despite severe historical provocation.

Good for you (I'm not being sarcastic by the way). If you've found a religion that makes you happy, I think that's awesome. I myself can't quite figure out why Jews are hated either. The KKK hates them but some of them are white. I don't get that. My only guess is that in the Bible, some Jews demanded Christ be executed and people use this as an excuse to hate them. That's just a somewhat educated guess though.

Some interesting comments previous.
I dont believe in this God stuff - its all utter fiction.
But, you have your own choice in how you run your world and if religion floats your boat then so be it.
People of jewish faith are not disliked, in fact a growing majorityof them, I would suggest, are getting to be sooooo ashamed about the events perpetrated by Israel in its land and the Palestinian land that it temporarily occupies. It is a sort of new holocaust but with the tacit blessing of the western world unfortunately. Many more killings will happen for some stupid belief that the world owes something.
And I think thats why people, nowadays at least, have a apprehension about accepting 'the race' as a normal race. And the stereotyping of dislike stems from that.
It will change eventually as the bigotry is not sustainable. but I dont know when. Following religion causes such death and destruction in this world. When one bad egg is sorted, or sorts itself out, then another takes its place.

same reason other religions are disliked. people are often arrogant and narrow-minded and think their way is THE way, and that other religions are false and disgusting to God(s). people in christendom believe that God rejected the jews as his chosen people because they rejected his son. some of those people may feel animosity toward jews for this reason. i am a christian, but i love and respect jews. i believe judaism bears the roots to my religion. one of my best friends is a jew and i have gained a lot of historical (and current) knowledge from him.

If you take this step some will cricise you, some will support you, some will abuse you, some will applaud you.
What does it matter? It is your decision.
Pray it through seriously.
You do not say what you are considering converting FROM.
