I have a 1995 Nissan Altima,I am trying to remove the alternator,I am on the last nut on the bottom of the alternator, and the bolt will not come out,I've tried liquid wrench, wd 40 and I've used every tool I can think of,the only thing that I can get a good grip with is an 11mm socket wrench.It is also very cold here,are there any useful suggestions to what I can do to get the nut to come out?Do mechanics make housecalls to help me get it out?I believe the nut I am talking about is the adjusting nut.It is the last nut on the bottom of the alternator.

Remove he belt on the pully wheel and make sure there is not a nut on the back side of that bolt, you may need to hold both to get the bolt out. It may be just turning both sides. Good luck.

How many times have I told you to quit playing with those nuts!
I know your having a bad day, but that nut won't adjust to anything, so leave him be and come in the house and get warm...bring the rest of the nuts with you! :)

Hi there,
From memory these adjuster bolts had a habit of seizing in the housing, perserverance is the only answer unless you have a hot spanner-oxy/acetelylene.

I agree with blow torch, and or: If the wrench had a good grip on it, get a long metal "cheater bar", to slip over the handle of the wrench to give you more leverage.

A pneumatic impact wrench should do the trick. If you want a mechanic to make a house call, I'm sure that you will be able to find one to do so. Call around for one who has a pneumatic impact wrench.

Some times you can get it out by removing the lower alt bracket. Other wise you have to take out the axle shaft.

Blow torch. Heat the nut, then try it.
