How is my being a Pagan dangerous?

2007-01-20 18:24:48 · 23 answers · asked by Becca 6 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

I don't believe in hell and eternal damnation. Kinda hard to wind up somewhere that doesn't even exist to me.

Um, SupperMan, I didn't give you a thumbs down. Not my fault if other people did.

Well, as you know, Jesus Saves. But from what?

My theory...

Jesus gets you a free membership to Costco.

Personally I'd like to be saved from the Jehovah's witnesses who try to "save" me by showing up at my door to "chat" once a month and then leave me with a dozen leaflets on why having sex before marriage hurts Jesus, and how God forgives everything, at any time, but for some reason I need to be saved now rather than later.

I do not consider all Pagan's to be dangerous.

Nor, do I know what we should all be in fear of.....(although I suppose Hell is the fear of all fears), that we should feel the need to be saved from.

I will continue to learn and to ask questions....because I know that I don't know everything.

It isn't dangerous. Don't you just love not being in a fear-based religion? Isn't it great not to go through life looking over your spiritual shoulder in terror of the "something" that might get you if you do this or that?

Way to get the Xtians riled up, though.

Well Christians have the idea of "original sin", the notion that we are tainted from birth and intrinsically bad, Thus, they think we all need "saving" from ourselves.

Personally, I believe in the innate goodness of humanity and reject the whole idea of sin and salvation.

I wouldn't worry about how christans view you they are addicted to their dogma let them be

A fundamentalist preacher was taking a walk one day and
happened
upon a young girl who was playing with something in a
cardboard box. When he got closer he could see that in the box was a litter of new- born kittens.
"What kind of kittens are those?" asked the preacher.
"Why, they're Christian kittens," replied the littlegirl.
The preacher walked on, pleased to see that the little girl
had Jesus foremost in her thoughts.

> >continued .....

A few days latter the preacher saw the little girl again.
"And how are your little Christian kittens doing today?" asked
the man of God. "Oh, they aren't Christian kittens, they're Pagan kittens," replied the girl. "But...but. .. I thought you said last week that they were Christian kittens," sputtered the flabbergasted preacher. "Oh, they were. But now their eyes are open."

It is a bit of a paradoxical question; But think of it this way, if people believe that if you have not found Jesus Christ that you will have bad luck and misfortune and live a hollow life, then you probably will by mass hysteric subconscious function of all that believe this meme.

The breakthrough in memetics is in extending Darwinian evolution to culture. There are several exciting conclusions from doing that, one of which is the ability to predict that ideas will spread not because they are "good ideas", but because they contain "good memes" such as danger, food and sex that push our evolutionary buttons and force us to pay attention to them.

A negative vote, ah good.. Feeling a bit defensive? Casting your negative vibes of fear?

You're in danger of being burned at the stake by people who will know you're a pagan when the apocalypse comes. They'll finger you as the reason why they weren't raptured.

Rejecting Christ means you'll have to pay the price for your own sins which is hell, then the judgment, then the lake of fire. You are in danger of losing your eternal soul. Don't get upset. Remember you asked.
