My friend got caught shoplifting makeup and turned over some of it..not everything. she even lied and signed a piece of paper saying that is all she stole. she got in trouble for what she stole and has to pay a hundred times the total theft but no charges. do they review the tapes and could get her in trouble for stealing that other stuff if they happen to notice? could they call the cops and track her down for it, since they have all her info in a database? she is worried about that.

the cops were not called..it was just an agreement between her and target sayin that is what she stole if that helps clarify things.

Depends on the state. In California, you can lie to anyone you want, but there is some contraversy that lying to a cop is a crime. In any case, the store can always "press" charges whether they figure out she stole more stuff or not. It's really the state that has that option, so once the state figures out about it, the state can either bring charges or not. And you can't really "drop" the charges. Only the state can do that. Just lay low and pay the money. The security staff at a store aren't a bunch of geniuses. They are lazy and don't want to both with looking back over stuff. If they were any good, they'd be real cops.

Your friend better be a little more crafty! Having been in retail for many years, they will probably send emails to other stores in the district just as a heads up about her (although it simply being makeup they may not). They will review the tapes if they suspect she stole more than she gave up, however if she avoids this particular store (i would!) in the future she will be fine. They do review tapes! Trust me.

YOU DONT misinform THE POLICE. and you incredibly shouldn't steal a $4 marker the two yet mmmmkay to each his very own. i'm undecided what the fee is (interfering with an learn or something?), yet there's a value for mendacity to the police and you purely do no longer do it. you for sure understand you stole the marker so which you acquire caught and you need to of taken duty for it particularly at 18 years previous yet now if the cop shows out you lied youre going to have a greater severe fee to take duty for. solid success

Hey Klepto! It's called New Found Evidence but don't worry, they don't spend that kind of money on Klepto's. She forged a legal document, committed fraud, gave false statements, and stole what doesn't belong to her!!!! GIVE HER THE INJECTION!!
But on a serious note. tellher to just keep her habit (klepto) in check. There are enhancement Laws that give greater punishmen for repeated crimes.

she has to pay 100 times the merchandise !!! she is being scammed by the store security !! I am glad she got caught so hopefully she has learned her lesson !! if no police were called and no charges filed, she will have no further trouble with the police unless she continues her sticky-fingered habits.
