I want to go to Japan with my sister for spring break to visit our friend and see the country. My mom said okay...but my dad said no way. I'm going to pay for it all mysel but he says it's too dangerous. Doesn't Japan have one of the lowest crime rates in the world?

Should we just buy the tickets and go? When I asked my dad what he would do if we did that...he said he would just be upset.

I need to buy the tickets now!! Help!

We travel a lot but this would be the first time without knowing "family" in the country.

IF you are still a minor ... listen to your FATHER and DO NOT GO .. respect his wishes. It is very dangerous for a MINOR to travel alone (even if it is with your sister) to another city/state -- much less overseas. Just so much can go wrong (the least of which is lost luggage).

If you are 18 or older, your question is moot. In that case it is just a matter of personal choice. If you are an adult, you should not be asking for permission any more - just make up your mind and if you want to you can tell your parents what you decided.

If you are under the age of 18 your question is also moot - in that case, it's not your decision. As a minor, I doubt you would be able to get out of the country on your own anyways.

If you are both almost out of University then you must be adult. I would try to talk to him again and then go. I never like to go against parents, but sometime we are not always right. If you are over 21 and a legal adult everywhere in the world....have fun girl and get goin'...!!!

depending on how old you are, and how old your sister is. but one side of me says go girl you may never get another chance to do this. since im not a travelor are you old enough to go without parents concent legally. you have the blessing of one parent hopefully your mom will be able to get your dad to re think his no. he is probably scared is the first time youve gone anywhere far away with out them. good luck stay safe.

You're in college! Do whatever you want! At first I thought you were just a kid in which case I would say no because when you get back your dad would put you in one of those anasazi camps to staiten you out. But you're in college? Go for it! Make sure you know where you're going and what you're doing at all times. Bad things happen everywhere. Be smart, and please, BE INDEPENDENT!!

well, your mom said yes, and you'll probably never gonna get a chance like that again, well maybe you will, but i,personally would jump at the chance. and he'd be upset, but he'd get over it....and i see why he'd be upset, because he obviously cares about you and doesn't want u to get hurt, but you have to way the consequences, and benefits...
well good luck.
and if you go have fun!!! live it up, and make it worth your while, learn something. i mean party too,but go to learn, and if not do go, because you could party here too.so it would be pointless...

Never disobey your parents. You will not regret being obedient. Most times we get hurt because we disobey. The Bible says your should obey your parents so your life may be long upon the land. Believe me, you should obey.

If you are over 18 yr old, go for it. If you're paying for it with your own money and you're an adult, your father might have a right to state his concerns but he doesn't have the right to order you not to go.

okay. this is easy. you are an adult. in college. i would imagine you are pretty responsible. i'd say go. you dont have to answer to your parents anymore. being over 18 means you are an adult and can make up your own decisions. think about it....

If i were you...first i'll ask why he wouldn't let me go...

but if the reasons are like he's worried if anything goes wrong or something like that...i'll just tell him i'll take good care of myself.

but if won't tell you why or something like that...i will just obey him...usually, when i disobey my parents, bad things happen...sometime just simple things...but sometimes really bad things happen...
