I am Christian and I am Republican. I chose to be Republican because the Republican party generally mirrors my own beliefs. They are against abortion. They are friendlier to Christianity than the Democrats tend to be. They are against gay marriage. Keep in mind that I am speaking in general terms here, not for individuals.
I think that the reason that many Christians identify themselves as Republican is because Republicans are the conservative party and it's the party that Christians most closely identify with, due to their conservative values. However, there are plenty of Christian Democrats in this country as well.

I am a Democrat. I talked with a RC once who was a Republican and she said that her conscious really got to her at time and that she was sure that God was a Democrat. He is, of course. I have never understood why anyone who calls themself Christian would be a Republican. But I think the problem is that, pardon my frankness, but that group of folks are rather naive and tend not to be free thinkers. They follow whatever others around them tell them. They are gullible and the Republican party uses them for it's own hidden agenda. Just read the answers here. People think that the Republican party is about right to life and anti-gay. They don't GET IT that the Republicans are using those issue to get votes so that once in office they can do what they really want to do, which is to give tax breaks to the rich. You can not talk to Fundies, because they are so brainwashed they can't hear you. There is no logical reason for anyone who makes less than $200,000.00 a year to be a Republican.

In reality, you should support candidates that you most agree with. That may mean voting straight ticket Republican, Democrat, or any mixture. No party has a monopoly on the truth. But judging from the items important to you such as being pro-choice and against gay marriage, you'll feel more comfortable as a Republican most of the time (there may be the some Democrats you like). Ask/research your candidates position on the issues near and dear to your heart and vote accordingly.

Yes, I’m a Bad American!
Original Author unknown
I am your worst nightmare – I’m a bad American.
I believe the money I make belongs to my family and me and not some mid level government functionary be it Democrat or Republican!
I’m in touch with my feelings and I like them the way they are! Get them before they get us!
I don’t think owning a gun makes you a killer. It makes you a smart American.
I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized nor does it entitle you to anything you didn’t earn by the sweat of your own brow.
I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac you should do it in English.
I think fireworks and patriotism should be legal on the 4th of July.
I think that being a student doesn’t give you any more enlightenment than working at blockbuster. In fact if your parents are footing the bill to put your pansy *** through four years plus of college than you haven’t even begun to be enlightened.
I believe that anyone has the right to pray to God anywhere or anytime that her or she desires to.
My heroes are my father, my son, and whoever canceled the Jerry Springer Show.
I don’t hate the rich. I don’t pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake and I don’t waste time dwelling on it.
I think global warming is a bunch of bull. If its true why am I still freezing my *** off every winter paying huge energy bills to stay warm?
I’ve never owned a slave nor was a slave, I didn’t wander forty years in the dessert, I haven’t burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you so shut up about it already! Get over it and get a life!
I want to know which church it is that the Rev Jessie Jackson pastors, where he gets his money and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Anybody want to Amen that one?
I think if you run from the police they have every right to shoot your sorry ***.
I also think that if your breaking the law they have every right to pull you over no matter what color you are.
I don’t think you need a driver’s license if you don’t want your face on it. I look too good not to be on mine! I’m also proud to have the word “God” on my money!
If your too stupid to understand how the ballot works that maybe you shouldn’t be voting on who runs the most powerful nation on the face of the planet.
I don’t think they should allow people to solicit at intersections and guilt me into donating to a cause I know nothing about. I also think these people make tempting targets.
I don’t believe it takes a “village” to raise a child; it takes two good parents. I also think so people should not be allowed to have children for the fear they would grow up to be just like them (Members of the ACLU for example).
And what the hell is going on with gas prices. Maybe we should start asking Iraq to give a little back now?
If this sounds like you than you’re a bad American too, so tell everyone you know maybe some one will listen. It’s time to take our country back and the hell with all these other countries who don’t give a damn about us anyway!
I’m Proud to be a Bad American!

wow this has to be the most unbiased question ever. you arent being biased at all.
Of course the entire military is made up of only republicans and not democrats, because then democrats would be breaking the thou shalt not kill rule.
Tell me, was Jesus also in favor of killing babies? If so you democrats are right on track.
Ok and also when the war in iraq first started Bush's approval rating was at 95% because at first it seemed to be really smooth. Of course this was in 2003 and it has since declined rapidly but my point is that was 95% of the population republican? I dont think so.

This whole thing is twisted around----if you really believe democrats give a hoot about the poor you have another think coming--------sounds like you came here to pick a fight and to spew liberal agenda and pervert the truth.....all the federal spending programs democrats incest out money in are pretty much pork barrel projects designed to pad the bank accounts of friends and family-----the poor working man sees little of it----and pays for most of it----------get a clue-----will ya???

As a rule of thumb, Christians are conservative and so are Republicans, it's really quite easy to figure out.

>>Why would any Christian be a Republican?<<
Perhaps because the Republican party has a better civil rights record than the Democratic party.

"Republicans are against helping the less fortunate and for helping big business."
Republicans give more to charity than Democrats, actually.
